I'm flying Syd-Per next week QF581 and it's a 747, what's the deal with that ?

Used to be quite frequently flown with 747s a while ago. You'll probably find there's a big AFL match on and they need the additional capacity.

AJ did bring the jumbo back onto that route last year on a consistant basis.

You will more than likely be on the only remaining 2 class 747 left (VH-OJD).

The jumbo used to be a fairly regular on these routes previously (the 747-2/300's), but up until the re-intro of it on 581/2 have been used sporadically when the demand has been there (AFL grand final etc)

Flew a 747 Perth-Sydney @ 10 years ago as a red-eye flight from memory had 4 seats to myself in economy. great sleep

No - QF581/2 is a 747 six times a week. AJ reintroduced it last year, suspended it for a while and put it back on just recently.

Ashleyn if you keep this a secret go into the front section of the 747. We love row 3 or 4 as it is the same ride as the captain gets. Very smooth and vey nice when you turn left at boarding.

Thanks cove, your secret is safe with me.

Ride it every 6 weeks or so.
Best Dom J in Oz
Crews seem to be all long haul

I just swapped myself out of this flight in a couple of weeks as I realised that I didn't want a really early drive from NTL to get it. On the plus side I'm now going SYD-MEL-PER for $29 extra and another 40SC's
