Domestic JASA's return - SC's Only

You mean people are not using points as much as they used to when J and FASA were available at the marginal rate. Now there is a shocker :) Or is it because of all the promotions out there with credit card company's etc?

For me I have earned a huge amount on credit card earn and bonuses and virtually nil flying. Also since the death of JASA etc have not been redeeming as previously posted.

Unintended consequences. ie the boffins didn't think it through or maybe they thought we'd be enticed by expensive toasters in the Q store.

But those points represent a liability - so they need to manage that at least cost to them.

Just raided MrP's email account. He received one but I didn't. We are saving those points for a hoped for upgrade Syd - HK in July.

With too many points out there, it's easy to see a situation where an inflationary effect will take hold. I.e. No availability of award seats and regular changes to the scheme that devalue the points. Oh wait - we've never seen that happen a zillion times already have we?!!!

I've registered but not sure if I will use the offer.

Interesting that they say the following
"The Status Credits earned through this promotion will count towards your tier membership, but not count towards the four flight rule for reaching or keeping your membership status"

What dos this actually mean? Counts for lifetime SC but not keeping membership status?

Mrs Halliday received the email, but not me. I wonder if it's targeted?

Has anyone read the T&Cs in detail. If I book for me, via Mrs H's account and using her points, will I get the SC's?

EDIT: I read the T&Cs eventually. Answer is Yes.

I'm in :D
Couple of trips to PER to book will likely do one on VA and one on QF. If hadn't received this offer both would have been on VA. Flexible Y earn is what I would receive on VA (minus the points of course on QF). It's better than nothing :)

I think it's an attempt to lower the total outstanding unused points balance before the end of the financial year. It reduces liabilities on the balance sheet, while the booked flight counts as revenue. It's a bean counter's wet dream.

Have registered and I kind of want to take up the offer, it will help contribute towards my goal of obtaining Gold in 2016. What is the best route to fly to take full advantage of this offer? With such a limited time frame to take up the offer, my budget is less than $200.

We have still to use our last JASA. However once that is done, I / we "may" re qual WP. But definitely will fall back to gold ( soft landing) will reduce flying frequency and probably use points to upgrade Y fares. Combined A/c balance up over 1.3 million (I think)? We should look very healthy by end of qualifying year.
I still only fly QF. Just won't be as often

How many points do you have and willing to use? Although $200 may be hardly adequate in paying the fuel fines and taxes...

I would also suggest that this type of questions would be best posted in the status run related threads - they would get a much better coverage there.

We got one each as well. Bugger! Was planning LHR GLA Italy for 4 weeks. May have to go to MEL PER now!

I'm thinking if its good value or not. I mean points are easy to come by. SC's less so given I only fly if I pay as my current job has no travel.
Was looking at CBR-MEL-SYD-CHC CHC-SYD-MEL-CBR in J even though earn is half as good. its 72,000 points, $273 and gets me 160 SC. Now if i ever flew internationally on something other than discount Y (Although I have a Qatar J leg coming up!) I'd keep the points for upgrades. Maybe I'll go to CHC as planned and just use points and fly economy instead, a few SC's will help.

Re: 7 day exclusive offer: Earn Status Credits on Classic Flight Rewards

I got the offer (PS, 90 SCs). Not sure if I'll be able to use it, as my next leisure trip won't be until June and I'm not sure when I'll be in a position to book.

Can you fly J to CHC and earn SC's ?
My offer is restricted to Y on Int flights. Domestic J only

Suspect it's more not a points earning flight so hence no ~

Exactly

I suspect it is targeted as I got an email last time and my girlfriend didn't, and no email this time.

Registered.
Usually I use QFFP for upgrades but this offer may convince me to book some flights with points rather then cash.
