Hi folks! I'll be traveling on Friday MEL – BNE before catching the evening flight to NOU (about 2.5 hours between flights). My airfare is all on QF ticketing, but the last hop BNE – NOU is a codeshare, operated by Air Calin metal.

Can I check-in online as per a normal domestic leg?

I'll be coming straight from work and cutting it fine, timewise... Assuming they'll tag the bag in MEL all the way to NOU, but if I do online checkin (no status anymore, merely bronze) can I rock up within the hour of departure? How does this sort of flight work?

I am not sure if NOU is valid for online check in. It may be.

However at MEL there's a specific set of counters for international check-in/bag check at MEL T1 (it's too the left of the security areas and left of bag drop). That's where your bags will be checked and tagged (yes they will tag them to NOU) and your BP's will be issued.

VA, not QF, but I was told for a SYD>MELB>CHC flight that I needed to check in at Sydney a min 90mins prior.

Im going to try to check in online but I suspect there will be a gate passport check in Melb.

You should be able to check in online, but you'll have to do a document check at the service desk anyway when you drop your bag since the Qantas agent will need to see a printed copy of your return itinerary (requirement for travel to New Caledonia on a non-EU passport).

Can’t comment on Air Calin, not used them, but when I’ve had to do this to the US via all QF ticketed flights CBR-SYD-DFW-CLT I’ve
- not been able to checkin online for int’l flights
- checked in at domestic in CBR for all QF ticketed flights (obviously well in advance without issue)
- had my passport checked by domestic checkin as needed
- had all boarding passes printed/provided at that time
- had all bags tagged through to final destination
- only had to touch bags at DFW to take through customs then drop on the domestic trolley

Whilst can't speak about flights to NOU, but virtually all my International flights have a dom connection, I turn up about an hour before departure, as I would for a plain dom, I do online checkin no issue, and have everything issued to my final destination. Of course with 2.5 hours in BNE you have tons of time to get problems sorted.

No you can’t check in online. You will have to check in at MEL. But they will check your bags through to NOU.
I flew PER-SYD-NOU on 6/09/2019 so my information is up to date.

Might be passport specific. I had no problem checking in online with an EU passport. Might have to do with document check. Just curious, when you tried OLCI did the process completely failed or it said you are checked in but need to collect BP at the airport?

OLCI was unavailable. But I never enter my passport information online anyway.

You cannot OLCI without entering accurate passport information.

That notwithstanding, it appears OLCI would not be available due to the international flight's operator.

Well, as usual maybe QF removed something that was working just fine. But I was able to OLCI connecting QF codeshare on SB.

Well, what d'ya know - after all that, my flight was rescheduled to a 4:10pm departure from MEL instead of a 3:10pm, which meant that I had plenty of time to get to the airport from work. So, no big deal! I don't even remember checking now to see if I had access to OLCI.

No I have no desire to ever set foot in the USA.
Ah, I was like you until I went to Molokai. Then I discovered that even the USA has some decent places!

I guess you don't travel to the US then given you wouldn't get a ticket issued without the APIS info....

well, they said online. You can provide this information over the phone. I booked an award ticket over the phone recently (WP release) and she put the information in for me.
