Hi

Son is doing SYD-BNE followed by BNE-LAX in a few days.

Is there a dedicated check-in desk for this at SYD ?

If so, where is it located ?

It appears there is one in MEL (post #5).

Or he just turns up at the usual T3 desk for the SYD-BNE flight and asks for check-in for the LAX leg at the same time?

Many thanks

What is the flight number for the SYD-BNE leg? If it's < QF400, then it will actually leave from T1 in SYD, and then he can clear immigration/security etc. in SYD and will arrive at the International Terminal in BNE.

If that's not the case, then I can't help with your original question, sorry.

Sorry I forgot to add

T3 it appears unless there is some new info.

"in a few days" meant the whole trip SYD-xBNE-LAX. It does not mean a BNE stopover.

I asked the syd staff tonight and they said to head toward the checkin counters on the left. They called it 'Zone A' - it seemed to be counters numbered 1-5.

When you arrive at the BNE Domestic Terminal, catch the orange TBus which departs on the ground level out the front of the terminal and will drop you off at the International Terminal on the level 4 departures level. Just show the BNE/LAX boarding pass (or eticket itinerary receipt) to the bus driver.

Many thanks for clarifying this option.

Another pearl - as usual - from Ozbeachbabe

I have no idea that this bus exists.

Thanks

Just an update for your info

AT SYD T3 (DOM) departure hall, on your left are some "Service Counters" labeled Service Desks (counter 1 - 5)

They will handle the INT transfer - issuing BPs for the DOM segment (SYD-BNE) and the INT outbound leg (BNE-LAX) as well as checking your luggage to the final destination (LAX).

Unlike MEL, there is no "International Connections" signage so you may be slightly uncertain at first.

Not sure why, maybe there is not many INT connection flight out of SYD (cf. MEL).

Prior to the T3 refurb in Sydney, there was an "International Connections" labeled checkin counter (I know as I turned up 1 day early for my flight per the booking, but actually confused the booking as the Dom left before midnight and the international left after midnight, ie the next day!). That counter was indeed all the way to the left of the checkin counters, and despite the lack of signage as per Legrooms comments still is for IC, last time I used it.

I imagine the OP's son has already traveled and I'm sure checked in just fine LOL!

Just a curious question, why via BNE on a 747 and not direct on a A380 exSYD?

Young kids doing their own bookings, snapping up what they thought was a 'bargain'

I only knew about their trips after tickets had been issued.
