Dom Y exit row seat refund if upgrade successful?

Does anyone know the answer to this? Lets say I spend the 8k points on the domestic exit seat, but then get the upgrade at 10k points. i'm assuming they will charge the 10k points (ie not 2k, the difference) but would I get a refund for the 8k points spent on the Y exit row seat?

No, is my guess. Same as for paid seat selection on international.

Fairly sure it's clearly stated in the terms before you pay that any fee for a seat is non refundable if you do upgrade.

You should only get a refund for operational reasons such as aircraft substitution.
