Having never been to Dubai before Mrs Lime and self will be for 3 days next month and would like to know the local standards.

Is this correct:

Females - No skimpy tops and shoulders covered, no short skirts, slacks ok but no shorts, skirts near knee length.

Males - shorts OK during the day.

Letter from Doctor for any script medications?.

Obviously no drinking in public.

No pointing at people.

Don't be impolite, let alone offensive, to people in uniform.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Obey all the signs even at the airport. Don't try moving any barricades if you see a shorter queue and want to get to it quickly.

Don't eat or drink anything publically during Ramadan.

Men are also expected to dress modestly, so tank tops and stubbies may be frowned upon even on a male. As a general rule have shoulders and knees covered for both sexes, similar to what is appropriate in European places of worship, and you will be fine in Dubai.

Have you heard of this place called Australia. They have less rules, and you can whistle at a good looking gal.

If scrip covers drugs on UAE banned list you will need letter from doctor plus photocopy of scrips, then visit Notary Public, then DAFF then registered mail to UAE Embassy. About $160 all up depending on how much the NP charges. Just gone through the process for my other half.

I'm betting most people don't do anything like this.

Due nature of wife's condition and some heavy duty meds we erred on side of caution and Doc's insistence.

Yes. Understandable. I'm just hoping that if we look like we know the dress standards and behave appropriately that all will be fine. Not that we are taking really heavy meds and we will be taking the scripts. Original packaging etc etc.

That's the standard I observed. I meant to look up the banned list to see if any of mine was on it, but didn't get around to it, then just crossed my fingers.

Doesnt have to be "heavy" meds, this is a list that are prohibited:

Narcotic (Active ingredients)
Alfentanil
Amphetamine
Buprenorphone
Codeine
Fentanyl
Ketamine
Methadone
Methyphenidate
Morphine
Pentazocine
Pethidine
Remifentanil
Sufentanil

I can understand codeine being there. If you need it then usually you might be carrying large amounts?
