Dog Transport (Europe) as checked baggage

Hi All,

Moving to Germany (Heidelberg, near Frankfurt) in Feb, and will be taking our dog with us.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience transporting their dog (or other pets) as checked baggage? I've found so far that Emirates and Malaysian both appear to allow this, and it's much cheaper than someone like jetpets who quoted > $2k for the trip.

Has anyone done it through either of these airlines? Are there others worth considering? Anything else I need to take into account?
