Does Virgin Lounge Australia membership give overseas access?

Got a flyer from Virgin offering $49 joining fee for membership of The Lounge, plus $349 per year. Does anyone know if this can be used ay overseas Virgin (Atlantic) lounges?

On a related note, around ten years ago I bought a life membership to Qantas Club for $3K. I just tried to join my wife under the spouse deal this month, but life membership has been removed from offer.

I think life memberships are a great deal, especially if you are under 40 (I'm not ) Are there any carriers that operate internationally out of Australia that offer good life deals for lounge access?

I wouldn't think so as they are separate companies. I can't even earn flying club points (Virgin Atlantic's FF Programme) on Virgin Blue and as the Virgin Atlantic lounges are so great I think they will only ever allow their Upper Class passengers and Gold members access.
