I need 150 status credits by end of October to reach gold. Would it be worth paying $1117 to fly Business return to Auckland from Brisbane ( QFF/Emirates) sale fare to garnish 160 credits?

Thanks

Lisa

Depends on what you value - is Gold status worth paying close to $1200 for?
How much will you fly next 12 months and so make use of the lounges and priority boarding etc?

If you will travel say 6 times next year, then look at it like you are paying $1200 for 12 lounge accesses plus prioirity boarding. At $100 a pop, to me its not really worth it for domestic trips, though international lounges and priority boarding is a nicer experience

If you are travelling 12 times, then thats more like $50 a pop, probably more worthwhile in my opinion.

Also consider the points you will earn, as gold earns an extra 25% on top of what silver gets. However, if your main route is short distance - e.g. BNE-SYD, then you'll still be stuck at the minimum guaranteed points level.

Re: Does this sound worth it to reach gold

my take:value is very subjective. Can you afford the price? do you want to do an AKL return (or some other option, such as a MEL-SYD-OOL r/t)?

I tend to agree it also depends on your travel for the next membership year - could you take advantage of things like lounge access, bonus points, etc to the amount where it may be worth the value of the spend and time to get it, or not?

If I had a lot of QF/OW travel planned over the next year or so then I probably would, but if only a couple of trips then maybe not. everyone's mileage varies.

Re: Does this sound worth it to reach gold

Thanks , ool/Syd/mel return in J is $1300 and more flying time . I've never flown j on Emirates and it's a there and back same day deal which could be likened to a day of pampering I suppose . My QC is due in December so I could deduct that cost off the fare. Generally doing 12 domestic trips and 1 international per year .

probably worth it then. the F fare ex-AKL sale is on again right now till 19SEP for travel 23SEP-30JAN so why not take advantage of this? (book 2 one ways). that is if you can afford the extra $250 or so.

good luck and enjoy :)

Also consider QF club membership is a tax deduction while the cost of the trip might not be
