Does Qantas fly a 4 Class 747 on 3 Class Route (First seats in Business)

But, the refurbished planes have removed 1 (or maybe 2?) toilets in J/Y+. This means long queues as many people put on the jammies and then want to change out of them in the morning, thus creating a bottleneck. Those of us who just want a quick 'tinkle' have to wait for ever it seems while people get changed. The old birds (not refurbed) still have an adequate number of toilets!

good point, still think designated changing areas would be a good idea

Yesterday I came across from SCL in VH-OEB, sitting in 4K - love this seat due to bassinet thing meaning heaps of room.

Going across the pacific frequently I get to fly in both the old F bed and the SkyBed2 - my personal opinion is that the older F seat is better, but the fittings are really showing their age. I would hate to cop the old J seats that exist on those planes.

I sat in the old 747 MEL-xHKG-LHR return with J service about 5 years ago. I'd take the old F seat over the SBII any day. The table in row 4 is great but row 3 had more sleeping legroom (i'm 6'5").

Yes, just flew SYD-HKG (7Mar)on VB-OEB as QF127 with F seats sold as J. Unfortunately I didn't score one of those seats in the nose, but was happy to be A-side upstairs. I think no matter now long I fly, there's something about heading upstairs on a 747 that makes me excited for my trip! Perhaps it's the happy memories, my very first overseas trip when I was 2 years old was a Pan-Am 747 to LAX!
Those MK-I Skybeds really are clunky, mine had to be reset a couple of times. Was fine for the daytime flight but I might have felt differently if it had been an overnight, where the incline drives me nuts. Can confirm service and booze was definitely J.
Was interesting to be able to compare J products - flew an un-refurbished 333 on CX back overnight HKG-ADL and had the best sleep ever.

I scored two classic points award J seats from Haneda to Sydney next Feb and booked 3A and B in the nose for Mrs Pug and me, not realising these were the old first class. Lets hope they don't change the plane before then so I can have my first ever 1st class flight (sort of!)

Have a feeling that if you could select A & B seats it's not the F configuration as their numbering is A, E, F, K. They may sub for you though as it's quite a while off. We came back from JNB in those seats - it was a good spot.

I'll be happy anywhere in J. Just trying to get award seats in J on the Syd-Haneda or Narita leg for 3rd or 4th Feb 17. No luck on QF but I'm hoping today or tomorrow JAL will have some availability on their direct flight. Fingers crossed.

I had this experience about 18 mths ago on a flight from SIN to SYD, and it was great F class seat but unfortunately on J class F&B

I am flying to Haneda tomorrow night from Sydney. I'm in Business Class on a 747 and when I went to select my seat the seat map is that of the 4 Class 747. I have selected seat 2F. Seat 2F only exists in First Class not Business Class.

I've checked the Seat Map on the Qantas site and it's definitely showing the 4 Class Configuration when comparing with Seat Guru and others.

My question is, does Qantas ever fly a 4 Class 747 to service a 3 Class service and would they allow passengers to sit in the First Class seats but give them Business Class service?

That is correct - as soon as you have an AB pair it isn't the old F config. At least it is the mark 2 seats which are tolerable. I agree with you about the toilet situation. We had a full flight back from JNB and the queues were ridiculous....
