Does international 'I' availability ever come back?

I was just about two minutes away from booking QF9 in early May and had the 'I' class price of just over $2k. By the time I went to book the flight, the 'I' availability had disappeared leaving only 'D' availability which is $400+ more expensive.

My question is - is it possible that the 'I' availability will come back? Or should I just respond to Qantas's market signals and book Singapore Airlines instead, and enjoy the cheaper fare and much better product (but no status credits)?

Well, it seems the answer is 'yes'. I just tried again an hour later and the 'I' availability had returned (along with the cheaper fare).

A bit surprising as you'd generally expect fares to get more expensive but not less!

What you might find is that someone had put a hold on the fares, just like what happens when you get up to the Qantas page where you enter your payment details.

For whatever reason they didn't proceed with the booking and the hold was automatically released.
