Just going to book some fares. Does the Double Deal have to be put through tonight at the latest? I'm hoping it's not yesterday.

Is it? I checked my email yesterday and it said book before the 13th. I took that to mean it finished yesterday.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I'm reading it as including November 13; flights booked between 31 October and 13 November 2011 as including the 13th. If I don't book I can't argue the point in the morning. But I don't want to book and pay if it's not worth it.

That's why I quoted the T&C in the other thread. The way I read the T&C implies 13 Nov is inclusive but other communications seem to suggest otherwise.

The phone number I managed to find said it's only operational during the week.

Guess I have a different interpretation of "between" and before. Will be interesting to find out the answer, if someone tries it.

While I don't disagree, two things in favour of the last day being today:

1) between can be interpreted as being inclusive of the two ends
2) from a marketing perspective, one would not normally state a date the day after an offer ends.

My guess is that it's just a bit of looseness with the way it was worded and anything booked today should be fine.

(I could be proved wrong of course!)

I called the Velocity Platinum line earlier today and was advised that their understanding was that before was operational, and flights booked after 0000 AEST on 13 November would not count.

Take that for what you will.

I should probably state for the record, that I don't know, or really care, what the answer is or which interpretation is correct.

We have had 2 weeks to book, so bottom line, if we missed out on grabbing some bonus points, Dont stress out, I am sure there will be other opportunities arise over the next 6 months. I had to book a couple of QF sectors today regardless, because the VA fares were WAY up there on BNe-CBR, and even with double SC, I couldn't justify it. I guess Im eating humble pie after my statement in another thread about VA ticket prices being on par with QF, I conceid defeat on this occasion

oooh. that doesn't sound promising. I had better rethink this.

I'm more than happy for someone else to verify this with them - but this is what I was told pretty confidently, so I didn't rush into some additional bookings as a consequence (luckily made some last night which snuck through).

Given there's two hours left, happy to have another go if anyone can confirm otherwise. :)

I'm interested more from an academic point of view. I just think from a marketing perspective it would be silly to mention the 13th, if you meant the last day was the 12th.

If its a Status run, I wouldn't do it, if you have to go anyway, I would do it, and then send the email, if double points dont show up. I personally read it to say book between 31 Oct and 13 Nov, so as 31 Oct was included, 13 Nov should be as well. Worth a shot !

I feel exactly the same way. Academic interest, and it would be strange marketing. I couldn't take advantage of it because I just couldn't force myself into booking anything, even through I will probably have to fly somewhere due the promo period. Just not sure of the dates yet.

I noticed this as well. I was going to book some flights OOL-SYD rtn but watched some TV and went to bed......forgot all about it, so I miss out regardless. It does however free me up to book those flights outside the DSC window of travel (going to see Picasso which is on until March) which will hopefully allow me to grab a couple of happy hour specials instead, which offset missing the DSC promo!

FWIW, I also read it to include yesterday, but certainly concede the wording to be disputable. A point in favour of that being the case, was my invitation email was sent to me on the 31-10-11 so if I raced in and booked straight away, I surely would been included as there was no "start" date mentioned in the email......the start date of 31-10-11 has been mentioned as as one pillar of those "between" dates, same as the 13-11-11.

As I said recently.....perhaps we over-analize things a bit here on AFF.........now I wonder if I can argue I thought the 13-11-11 really meant the 14-11-11 to still give me a chance :D
