I was at a conference a few weeks ago and I won a door prize, which was a Dick Smith voucher. I haven't purchased anything at DSE since the 1990s. Last time I wandered into a store, I found that most things were unnecessarily expensive, and their range was pretty ordinary. Nowadays, I purchase "electronics" on-line and in Asia.

So my question is, does DSE sell anything worth buying / vouchering? Can I use it for other WOW stores? eg Woolworths?

Or should I re-gift the voucher?

Or should I re-gift the voucher?

Of course I wasted a perfect opportunity to "donate" it at the Mid Year do on the weekend, but I completely forgot about this voucher until I found it in my bag this morning.

Assuming its a black credit card style it should work in all wolworths stores.

If, on the back, it says 'everyday gift cards' it will work in all stores. The older cards did not but I'm assuming if you only won it a few weeks ago you should be fine.

I find DSE OK for things like blank DVD's, Audio connectors and sat navigation devices. And of course I also get cash back using Wish Gift Cards.

DSE is a lot like a Tandy's and correct me if I am wrong but there are not too many Tandy's left out in the retail space.

Last time I went to a DSE i bought batteries because I forgot to buy them from the supermarket and could not be bothered to go back through all the line up at supermarket.

DSE and Tandy in Oz are both owned by Woolworths - I know wish cards can be used in either, so I am thinking DSE cards could be used at Tandy as well.

Voucher essentially worked as a WISH card.

I did a Dan Murphys online order last night. The Father's Day Sale overlapped with the EDR promotional code sale, as well as a few online-only specials. I ordered some wines I wanted which would normally retail (as single bottles) for about $270 - $280 ish. All the sales, plus the code, plus the >6 bottles buy got it down to $180 with free shipping.

$50 DSE voucher from the conference, plus
$130 on another WISH card (5% discount)

Total out of pocket spend = $123.50 for the WISH card, which naturally earnt 123.5 QF miles on the EDR MC when I bought it.

Not a bad deal for a couple of bottles of champagne and a few good reds :) :)
