Does anyone use the Away Bigger Carry-on in Australia?

I recently purchased this as a gift for my fiance following anecdotal reports that it is fine to use domestically: Away

The specs are: Size 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6” Weight 7.3 lbs Capacity 46L

However, she is sceptical and exploring ways to return it for the smaller version. Does anyone here use this regularly? We do not fly much domestically but this will be changing next month with several trips planned.

It's too big by either domestic (41 inch) or international (45 inch) standards. I don't usually worry about the domestic v international issue - never had a problem stowing international-sized bags on aussie domestic flights (except on the old 767 overheads). But 47 is just that little bit too big.

As MEL_Traveller points out the dimensions exceed Australian international standards. In addition the case itself weighs 7.3 lbs which is half the maximum weight allowed on Qantas and various other airlines, ie 7kg (15lbs). Therefore it wouldn't take much luggage before you met the weight restriction. In my opinion unfit for purpose.

It would seem to fail on a couple of levels. Too big for the cabin, but you have to remove the battery, as it cannot be checked with that in place.....

3.3kgs, ouch. And unless you check it in, not many baggage handlers will throw a bowling ball at it (refer advertisement). Is it the gadget/power battery that triggered your geekness for it? A power pack is much smaller and lighter to carry.

I do like the colour choices though, but not 3.3kgs like. There are other choices that weigh less.
