DL systems now able to see VA status

Can anyone confirm this is true or not before I reply?

I call bollocks. Assuming you're Velocity Gold; directly from Gold Membership | Velocity Frequent Flyer

TRAVEL BENEFITS: International airline partners
- Delta Air Lines
  • Priority Check-in
  • Priority Boarding
  • Priority Baggage
  • Priority Screening
  • Lounge Access

Nothing on there about having to be booked as part of a codeshare .. no asterisks, no general conditions and I couldn't find anything in the terms and conditions that state benefits will only apply when booked on a codeshare. I'd escalate that response to a manager if I were in your shoes..

No however you do get benefits , but you need to show your card, no automation as yet

The EY boarding pass does not show your VA status however I have been upgraded twice now from Y to J at the gate...... . AUH - CDG & DUS. So I have to argue with you there, (politely) about 'no automation'. How else would they have picked me. (fat and ugly are not prerequisites for upgrades) In both cases I heard the magic 'bing' and I got the upgrade. If there is 'no automation' there must be something!!

However I do agree that you have to show your card to get into the lounge at AUH.

PS: I just thought of another time as well. CDG - AUH. I checked in at the EY priority check-in and I did not have to show my card. (that was about 18 months ago)

The DL status recognition is weird, recently booked economy travel SYD-CLT (too difficult to book through VA) and my gold VA status was matched to silver medallion. Have since moved up to platinum VA after EY Christmas trip and DL won't up the Elite status match on the ticket. I've spoken to VA and DL, neither is wanting to change the status on the ticket. DL wants me to update at the check in, though platinum elites are eligible for upgrades 5 days before departure and silver is only 1 day before. Any idea on who to contact and have this sorted?

I would never expect an upgrade based on Delta elite status to be granted to me as a VA elite.

If such did happen, I would happily accept such a bonus but would not advertise it on a public forum.

Its an interesting situation, I have always assumed that I will get the benefits so long as there is VA codeshare number on the flights but regardless of who its booked through.

The website, as you have pointed out, seems to say otherwise - in fact it make out that you get the benefits on Delta period.

I would speak to a manager to ensure your feedback / complaint is passed back to management.

How to update DL status when you go up a VFF level

OK, I have recently changed status from VA SG to VA WP and had some DL bookings in the system showing me in the "Passengers" section as:
SERFTY FULL NAME

V Australia # 0123456789
Velocity
Gold Medallion / Elite Plus
I was going to call to get the Velocity number reapplied, but on looking the booking up I saw a link to:
Passenger Information

Clicking that opened a section at a heading: "FREQUENT FLYER NUMBER" as herein:
I just clicked save (nothing else) and there it was:
SERFTY FULL NAME

V Australia # 0123456789
Velocity
Platinum Medallion / Elite Plus

Im not saying its impossible , but its is extremely unlikely you will receive or be eligible for an upgrade on DL with VA status . There are generally too many DL status pax ahead of you in "the queue" . I was VA Gold and was never offered any form off upgrade before departure for my flights in Feb.

I suspect this has been the case for a while - at least since the start of access to DLs "Sky Priority" services for VA elites - but I noticed a little something on a DL booking I just made which was nice to see:

notzac
V Australia # 1234567890
Velocity
Platinum Medallion / Elite Plus

Hopefully this means an end to rubbish seats on US domestic flights! :) Would be interesting to know whether DL considers VA elites for complimentary upgrades / free Economy Comfort seating / etc..

I've got two flights booked with Delta in the coming month or two - one of them shows my Velocity status, the other doesn't show anything... Strange?

I have DL bookings for June (including a few DL codes on AM metal) and I had no problems in pre-selecting exit rows on *all* flights including codeshares!

Have you tried the method to update status I referred to in post #26 herein.

I have 2 upcoming bookings one booked through VA (SYD-xLAX-SFO) with a codeshare on DL, the other booked through DL only flying DL domestically. The DL booking shows me as Sky Priority while the VA booking does not. I noticed in the list there are two options for VFF, there's V Australia/Velocity or Virgin Australia/Velocity. My booking that has Sky Priority listed has me down as V Australia/Velocity but my VA booking has me down as Virgin Australia/Velocity and will not allow me to change it to V Australia/Velocity. I have attached some pics below

Interesting - I just checked my bookings> I had the same situation as you in that I have two seperate bookings where one shows my status and the other does not.

Same as you, the V Australia one has status, the Virgin Australia one does not. However I was able to change mine to V Australia and now the status has come up :)

Just did the change and can see the status showing now on a couple of bookings. Never flown delta before so not sure what other advantages I get now it shows online? The only thing I can see is that the preferred seating areas are now selectable, but still cost $29 per seat.

Is that because it is only discount economy?

No, although they do provide this complimentary for their elites: FAQ: Economy Comfort Seating - FlyerTalk Forums

Ok, So I assume even though it says priority by selecting V-Australia it doesn;t get ALL the medallion stuff. No problem but was just wondering.

(It says $86 if I try to select Economy Comfort).

Maybe it needs a day to update completely, or maybe I just have to pay, no big deal, happy to even be able to select a seat rather than Virgin America turn up and see what I get (a year ago to be fair)

In some DL systems, it still refers to VA as Virgin Blue, so the DL agents get confused
