As per the title from a closed thread, I received a velocity email this morning advising:

• An Australian first promotion where members can earn Status Credits on Rewards Seat[SUP]#[/SUP] redemptions with Virgin Australia.

• Changes to the way Status Credits* and Eligible Sectors are calculated means you now earn Status Credits on each individual Virgin Australia flight sector flown, making it easier to maintain and upgrade your status.

Terms and Conditions

[SUP]#[/SUP] To be eligible for this offer, you must book and travel on a Virgin Australia (VA) marketed and operated flight in a Reward Seat Fare Class (X, P or Z) between 13 January and 30 June 2013. Economy Reward Seat bookings will earn Status Credits at the Discount Economy rate, Premium Economy Reward Seat will earn at the Premium Economy rate and Business Reward Seat will earn at the Business rate.

* Status Credits may not be earned on all fare types or may vary depending on your itinerary. You can only earn Status Credits on flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia and/or a Velocity airline partner. Member travelling on upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Status Credits based on originally purchased fare classes.

Hi, yes the promotion for SC earn (not points) on awards is on until Jun 30 and is discussed here:
