Well tomorrow is my first DJ flight in years following my company's new
best fare of the day policy. Lots of newbie questions...
  • What is the point of online checkin if you can't get to the front third of the aircraft? And despite getting sequence number 1 at least half the seats in the remainder of the aircraft are blocked off.
  • Referring to crazydave98's [thread=7313]seat diagrams thread[/thread], I'm still a bit confused about which rows have the extra leg room. Is it 2-13 on the left and 2-6 on the right?
  • Does anyone know when there will be a lounge in Perth? The propaganda provided to our company by DJ indicated that a space had been reserved, but this is small consolation. I can imagine a bunch of businessmen in suits sitting on the floor in the reserved area with their laptops.
  • It seems a little silly that you can't check your bookings online just because they were booked by the corporate travel agent. Qantas doesn't have this restriction.
  • Are tax invoices available for onboard purchases such as meals, drinks, digEplayer, and the upcoming live TV?
I think that's it for now.

In my limited experience, using online checkin I always get access to front third when on Flexi-Saver or greater fare, never when on lesser fare. Suggest you try again at airport, but given DJ often embark/disembark at back and front (not sure about in PER), a back row seat is quite good as well.

Agreed.

Yes they have a machine to print out tax invoice. Just need to ask when paying.

Can't help with the other questions, but the layout is confusing. Two weeks ago on a 738 flying CBR-MEL had heaps of leg room in Row 3, but last week Row 4 was as cramped as I would expect in the rest of plane and on QF (are theredifft configs of 738?),

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Fare Type. Fully Flex fares seat you at the front. But as Dajop said, sitting in the back has its advantages too (unless its raining, when they don't use the rear doors).

As mentioned, fare type is what determines if you have access to the front third of the aircraft.

I think there was another thread where crazydave mentioned that the front left hand side seats have the best legroom of all, i.e. rows 1-15 A/B/C. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Sorry, no clue about this. Maybe I will hear something about it tomorrow. I imagine that PER would be high on the list, as would be CBR.

Hope you have a good flight.

OK, thanks for the info. I should be able to get a seat further forward on the way back. Tomorrow I am in row 11 on the left, which I think is one with extra legroom.

As I have stated before, every time, but once when I was using my points, I have been able to access Zone 1. I have always been placed in zone 1, and usually get the right side of the aircraft (DEF). I always buy the sale fares, yet am still able to be placed in Zone 1, even on a cheap $49 SYD-MEL fare. I have found the opposite with the legroom. I have found the right side of the aircraft to be more roomy than the left.
Recently, I have tried Row 30 seat C, and find it to be quite good. Downside is the FA's chatting loudly, and people waiting for the toilet. I have found the recline to be excellent. The recline in Row 24 on 737-700 is not as good, but still okay.
I have noticed that the load on the Red eye from PER to SYD on Friday evening/Saturday morning is quite low. Last time I counted 98 on a 737-800:shock: .
