Dispute with Citibank, incorrect reward points.

If you think the Citibank Premier Qantas card is confusing then don't get the Citibank Prestige Qantas card!!! On a recent statement, i had just 9 transactions (2 of which were Ubereats and JB Hifi rebates) yet i still cannot reconcile the points they gave me!!!

For the Prestige card, it says you get 1.5 Qantas points per $1 "made directly with major: airlines, hotel chains and restaurants in Australia". What is a major restaurant? Does Macdonalds fall under this category, my cafe down the street, or does it only apply to fancy restaurants? Because if it is not a "major restaurant" then it falls under the 0.5 Qantas poitns per $1 spent which is a major difference.

Similarly, it is 1 Qantas point per $1 "made directly with major: supermarkets, petrol outlets and national retailers". What is a major supermarket? Woolworths yes but is my franchised IGA? What is a major petrol outlet? Again if it is not "Major", it only owns 0.5 Qantas points per $1

Somewhere replied to me somewhere that it is based on merchant codes but that means you have no way of knowing whether to pull this card out or use some other card for higher points when it comes to pay.

Just adding another reconciliation issue as this seems to be as good a place as any.

I paid my VIC land tax at the PO with my Citi premier on one date, say 12/5. It shows as "Post [suburb] Post [Town] Au". So it looks like a post office spend (ie points earned at 0.5ppd) unless Citi knows it's a gov spend (ie no points). There is no rewards point earn entry corresponding to or around that date.

But some two weeks later, an earn entry with a similar but not the same spend amount does show up. There's no other similar spend amount that corresponds to that time. Regardless, I would be expecting points to be half the spend amount, if it was eligible.

Upon close investigation, the points earn rarely corresponds to spend, regardless of online or in person, and the dates never reconciles. The transaction date on the earn list is at least one day later, but often much later, than the transaction date on the credit card (which is accurate).

It's a pain as I'd like to be certain that the points were for paying the land tax bill or otherwise. Not sure I'd continue paying $30 surcharge for 4k citi points though. Hopefully the new MyCard rewards system is more transparent if indeed it does survive.
