Hey AFF,
Sorry if this has been discussed already, I haven't flown dom with QF since March. I'm currently in the Business Lounge in Sydney and it appears QF have "enhanced" their offering by using disposable plates in the lounge.

Is this a new development? Is this at other lounges?

the dishwasher has been broken for ages but I thought there were reports it had been fixed - maybe it had and it's died again

I go through at least once a week and only encountered paper once in the last couple of months when I had to fly for leisure on a weekend.

Seems a lottery and probably when they’re not expecting huge volumes.

Outsourced years ago to some German made machine that takes months for parts to arrive....
The part probably left the supplier promptly and has eventually made its way to QF baggage handling...

Can confirm it was fixed 2 weeks ago and broken again today.
Paper plates also last Thursday. It seems to be a Qantas Frequent Breaker, Plat 99 level.

For what you would think to be the QF flagship domestic business lounge, SYD is far far below the MEL business lounge in my opinion based on travels through both of about 20 times the last several months.

It's either paper plates (I've not actually seen anything other in all my visits this year) or lack of breakfast options such as basic toasted sandwiches, pathetically small barista/bar area and even food area with lines often 30 deep!

Service staff (not to be confused with reception staff) I'm sorry to say just don't seem to care and clearly show the absolute lack of interest in being there.. it's the absolute opposite to MEL in most every way outside of size which I think SYD wins?

Pretty sure the outsourced baggage handlers could put together a better lounge offering.

Unfortunately when calling up to check the status of the part, the entire order was accidentally cancelled by Suva. Sadly the part has no more availability so Qantas will just need to buy a whole new dishwasher.
I heard they sent a re-instatement request but it's still pending.

Next month’s newsletter contribution from Stephanie Tully -

“We listen to our customers very closely and they told us that they love the party atmosphere our lounges offer. So we’ve introduced a new enhanced Customer Experience with party paper plates that everyone will love! Best of all, they’re fully recyclable so you can help our planet too.”

Translation: We just don’t care anymore… gave up a long time ago. In fact we’re just having a laugh, seeing what we can get away with before it makes it to Four Corners or some other purported “news” feed.
