Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Munn the Cat is not well I'm sorry to report. She seems to have aged tremendously in the last few weeks. Doesn't want to stay indoors anymore, just wants to lay outside.

:(
You never can tell with cats, so good luck!

My first 2 (both put down this year) were rock solid until this year, but they bounce back really well sometimes too.

Happy birthday lovely Meezie, from our lovely Meezie

A cat in a car - that's impressive. I've only had one cat that was happy in the car. She would sit unrestrained on the transmission tunnel by my arm, and lean into the corners as I drove.

My Muffin used to be happy enough in the car. Would sit on the ex's shoulder as she drove and look out the window. Probably not the safest place to be, but wasn't crying at least.

He only likes the car when it's parked in the driveway - it gets really warm and he loves the heat. He'll come and try to get in if we're unloading shopping - so we open the windows for him and leave him there :)

Munn does seem better thank you rogerkambah, still not 100% and skinny as a rake, I must weigh her tomorrow but guessing only 2 or 3 kilos which is nothing for an 11 or more year old cat. Have been feeding her $15/kilo leg ham...... she's worth it.

Great to hear she is on the mend. She needs to rebuild her stamina for her late night duties of F1 watching!:D

These videos of cats who malfunction when placed in a harness make me want to try it on my own cat to see what he does. When we pick him up to go somewhere he doesn't want to, he snorts and sticks all four paws straight out. He's hilarious.

Well we had the tantrum to beat them all today. It is vaccination day which means a trip to the shelter's vet for an examination and vaccination. Petal goes into her carrier easily enough but that was the calm before the storm.

There were the normal cries on the drive and silence when she realised where we were. We were called in due course and then the fun began. She had to be tipped out of the carrier and started hissing at the vet. With my help the examination was done and weight taken (a little over so less food is the outcome).

Then it was time for the needle and she started playing up merry hell running away and hiding in the corner. It took the vet and her assistant with three towels and the special anti-scratch gloves to get the needle done. Hissing, spitting, biting and scratching all the time. At least once it was done she got into her carrier willingly.

The drive home was quiet and now she is sulking.

The vet suggested that I consider a home visit vet for next year. I will research it and if available will use it so there is less stress for all involved.

Perhaps every few months take her to the vet, give her a treat and then head home. Then the examinations will only be every so often when she is there.

Wow, that sounds like a trip to the Vet's you'll remember for a long time.

Trust that Petal has settled right down & has 'chilled out' a little :)

It's the actual location that causes her distress, she was adopted from there two years ago and still hasn't forgotten.

She has and we've had some cuddle time but she's still a bit skittish,

I think you need to find a new vet. If it's the location that's the problem, that's an easy fix unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

Took my cat to the vet today

Vet you see this brown stuff it's tartar it causes gum disease

Me is it

Vet yes it also causes bad breath & their teeth to fall out

Vet I'd recommend a teeth cleaning under general anaesthetic at $500

Me really well I can see no loss of periodontal attachment & the calculus (because that's the correct terminology not tartar ) is marginal at best there is no way that there is any chance of this cat losing his teeth due to periodontal disease in the foreseeable future!

Vet oh really what do you do for a living

Me I'm a dentist

Vet oh ok well I just have to tell you what's going on

Me whatever ;(
