Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Blood transfusion in cats.

A vet friend had to give a severely anaemic stray kitten an emergency blood transfusion due to severe flea burden.

The volume was 5ml but the blood came from a dog

Some trivia:

1) volunteering your cat/dog as a blood donor is possible. But they take the blood when transfusion is required - they don't generally store blood
The quid pro quo is often big bag of doggie food / gift voucher + free blood test and checkup

2) xenotransfusion such as this is a one time only as this cat will develop antidog blood antibodies. Next time it gets blood from a dog it will get a severe anaphylaxis reaction and will die.

Consider your cat/dog as a blood donor.
They prefer indoor desexed male cats over 4.5kg.

Have you been away? I can imagine Max has not been impressed with having his play area curtailed.

Quick trip to Cairns/Palm Cove, bit of driving, tablelands, Mossman, bit further north, only downside the the trip was that we didn’t get our requested upgrades, :) although Mantra did give us an upgrade and a voucher for Vivo Restaurant as our room wasn’t ready. Can recommend both.

So max is "OK" in the nuddy.. but how would he compare dressed for dinner...

THis pic was taken by our cat carer last Christmas, she is a keen photographer and creates cat collection books for her clients
She said he had the most incredible temperament.. just sat there…. he looks unimpressed to me but what would I know...

Obviously he wanted irises not roses or maybe catnip? :)
