"Earn double Status credits on eligible Qantas flights

For a limited time we're offering you double Status creditsˆ on all eligible* International and Domestic Qantas flights when you register, book and travel from April through June 2012. You can also book International flights for travel during August 2012."

Just received this email as would many others, my beef is that I have already booked and due to fly within the required period but there is no provision to allocate points or status to booked flights.

Is this discrimination on QANTAS's part or what? Advice please and how to address this with QANTAS.

I'm very dissapointed.

r

I haven't seen THAT Email yet, But i dont get you. You wont see the Status Credits until "after" you fly. Interesting that you mention you have to register though. Did they give you a link to register your claim. ?
Maybe you got the email early ?

I don't understand your discrimination suggestion - discrimination how?
QF can make bonus offers like this (which of course they're under no obligation to make) under any conditions they like.

If you already have a bunch of flights booked, I can understand your disappointment that flights already booked aren't eligibile for the bonus SCs, but personally I'd be happy if I were you - at least you got the email :)

Seems there is another thread on this, everyone but me is getting this email "Not Fair" I have to book at least 4 domestic flights for near the end of April.

You can't please everyone?
Thinking of writing to QF....please....

I got the current offer and l might not even use it
Previous x2 SC promo, l already had flights booked (like you)
Promo before that, l missed out on the x2 SC offer which a lot of people received
Didn't get the HKG promo

Take the good with the bad and don't have sour grapes.
*Close thread*

r

Probably doesn't need to be addressed. If you're super keen to use the promotion, book more flights! Or, as some posters in the other thread suggest, cancel your flights and rebook.

I'll be missing out on quite a few SCs because a lot of my flights are already booked. But I'm looking at booking a JASA for a weekend away anyway. It's an opportunity!

Seriously, thats lame. Discrimination?

Like many others, today was the first time that i have gotten an offer, and i have a round the world ticket for travel in May, with long haul QF on it, and im going to luck out. - do i care? Hell yes! is it discrimination? Hell no.
We're lucky they even send out these offers, All you are going to do by complain is that they perhaps may not run them again!

You do have an option to cancel your flights and pay any cancellation fees. You can then book again ensuring it is a different PNR.

No

Advice please and how to address this with QANTAS.
You received an offer that comes with T&C that are standard for all - there is nothing to address.

I'm very dissapointed.
You'll get over it... experience is what you get when you don't get the result you were after.

There's already another thread on Qantas Double Status Credits, which could probably include discrimination, non-discrimination, "why wasn't it me" and anything else. ;)

Actually I think the HKG promo was open to all as it was advertised on the QF website and I think the link required you to input your FF number. It also applied to existing bookings.

I didn't pay attention to it, because l had no intention of flying to/through HKG at the time.

If the OP hadn't have joined a few years ago I would have screamed 'TROLL!'

In this case I think i'll just say...

"WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?!?!"

It's called targeted marketing. I can't see why offering a select set of members to a paid (by most members) program that is rewarding loyalty?

I, FWIW, actually did get this offer. I have only had one ever apart from this, and I know others that have been offered similar offers 4, 5 or 6 times. Did I complain and scream discrimination? no. I called them a few swear words for being lucky buggers, but that's all.

I just think i'm cursed and miss out on all the fun (Are you hearing me Velocity Rewards? ;))

I don't believe so. It may have appeared on the FF pages for those who were pre-selected for the offer, but not for those who were not selected. Qantas has done this type of advertising before.

I believe it was targeted - there was a fair bit of discussion at the time as to who received the offer and who didn't.
And it only applied to bookings made within the offer period:

^ Recipients of this email will be eligible for this double Status credits offer by firstly registering via the above registration link in the main text area of this email and then booking and travelling between 17 November 2011 and 17 May 2012 on an eligible Qantas International flight between Australia and Hong Kong (flights must have a QF flight number on your ticket and be a flight on which Status credits are normally earned). This offer is not transferrable. Qantas may extend the offer. Extra Status credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

It actually is discrimination, just like most things in the world.

However there is nothing wrong with discrimination as long as it isn't unlawful discrimination such as based on your gender, sexual preference, age etc.

If I bought a pair of pants from David Jones and found they were on sale the next week they won't offer to credit me the discounted amount. Promos are designed to generate NEW business.

I received the offer, noting that my status year ends on 31 May 2012.

I have a ridiculous ASA status run booked next month, and at least 10 domestic reservations, and I simply can't be bothered cancelling and rebooking. It's not discrimination, and if you really care enough, you can take action to take advantage of the offer.

I actually got the last Velocity offer, but was disappointed to hear that they didn't offer it across the tiers as they had done previously. As with the QF ones, I think providing shortcuts for some but not others devalues status for those that don't receive them - you're basically shifting the goal posts dramatically for some while making others kick just as far. QF must think I'm a sparrow, because there's no vulture bait coming this way. On the flipside, proper VA WP requal was assured prior to this, I'm just sorry that others didn't get the same opportunity.

However, I'm kind of surprised to hear people who actually got the offer complaining that it doesn't apply to existing bookings - which, if true, would completely confirm that it's only about providing shortcuts to status for some and not about encouraging new bookings from all (the latter of which in my eyes should be the only motivation, hence giving everyone within a tier the same opportunity as per AA and pre-2012 VA). If you're lucky enough to get the offer, then you should be prepared to make new bookings to use it, or bear the cost of changing / rebooking, to take advantage of it.

Given its a regular and predictable event that occurs this time every year, offering it to all would make it worthless to QF, as we could all plan our year knowing April is double SC time. offering it to targeted recipients means you cannot rely on it.
