dilema when to do challenge

Have QF from MEL-LAX-BNA-MEL booked in V class early march and around world ticket (one world) booked in J class to start in late september. Currently QF Gold with only 140 SC to April . The Dilema is when to start challenge, the V class flight won't bring me up to Gold with QF for this year, But I could get Platinum with the challenge which is good to next Feb. I have been gold for about 5 years.
But as I also have the J class in September, the dilema is with whom to do it as QF or AA . If AA then still lose Plat status end Feb or if with Qantas then will have SC up to have gold for 12 months.
Any advice would be helpful. Am doing this with wife so option 1 does it QF and 1 AA. Have I any options to extend out the Plat or Gold status?

Since 1 Jan this year, only segments with AA flight numbers count toward the AA Plat/Gold Challenges. So, if your MEL-LAX-BNA-MEL bookings do not have AA flight numbers then a challenge would be no good.

A successful September Challenge would see you with that status until 2009.

the flights are Code share on Mel-LAX-MEL . LAX-BNA-LAX is AA Metal.
