I have attempted to book a points ticket PER-DXB on many occasions, including a trial run of booking on 1 October 2014 (ie, the earliest possible date in the system). It seems to be largely impossible. Only once or twice have I seen a ticket on this route, otherwise the system routes via MEL, SIN or SYD to DXB. Are there simply no points tickets on this route? I am QF Gold, husband Plat, would he have better luck?

What class??

i just went and did a random search on 20 May 2014 PER-DXB and one flight is showing Y and J and F, and another Y and F.. Y, J and F on 14 July etc...

Didn't click through for J as don't have the points so that is what it would tell me..

Hi Iced Gem,

i think think the reason is EK do not open their bookings until 330 days prior to travel which is shorter than QF's 353 (I'm going from memory here so these are probably a little off). So you are only seeing the QF flights which all go via SYD & MEL.

i looked at Aug 14 and there are plenty of Y seats and limited J & F direct with EK (depending on which day you look at).

Also probably best to log in under Mr Iced Gem if he has higher status (WP)it probably won't make much difference until you book it.

Good luck!
