Different ticket same PNR protection

Not sure if I'm suffering early onset senility or not.

I'm sure I read in multiple places if you have two tickets in the same PNR you are protected, as long as you meet MCT. Or am I mistaken?

I'm wanting a connection at LHR T2, SQ->TP that is 1:10, noting , MCT is 1:00 for T2-T2 international flights. But, corporate travel agent does not want to do this , rather me to have 3:10 connection. I know that T2-T2 is easy connection once you do the walk from arrival gate to main terminal (in fact did T2-T4 landside via the Elizabeth line from same flight, disembarkation to lounge in 40 mins in January).

Thanks. Good to know, so if I proceed, AYOR.

On my last trip on that SQ flight (SQ308) I was under no illusion that it was AYOR as it was a different PNR, different alliance, SQ->OT (to CMN), T2-T4 with 1:50 (but through checked luggage). Some would say crazy, but plan B was to re-ticket out of STN the next morning, if things went pearshaped.

I'm inclined to accept the risk, as the second ticket is flexible business class and there’s 2 more flights that evening on TP. And SQ whilst under no obligation, sometimes will sort something out for Solitaire's. if they know you're checked in (not sure if they can issue BP's for TP, they do for LX-family even on separate PNRs).

Having flown SQ308 multiple times, it's also a quiet time at T2.

Otherwise I could just to a late afternoon lounge crawl to the four star alliance lounges 🤣 .

If you're QPPS/TPPS and HLO... fine, I'd personally let it slide. If you're checking a bag, better to be safe than sorry as it gets messy if your bag has been through checked and you've missed your connection.

Yeh, it will be HLO. Bags would indeed be complicated as it will be LHR-LIS-CMN with o/n layover in LIS.

CMN can be challenging to get to if you take out ME3, and whilst AF was more convenient (with a protected 1 hr connection - I'd rather 1:10 at LHR in T2, than CDG). Also AF fare was almost 80% higher than fare to LHR with addon to CMN).

Update - agent couldn’t get into same PNR as SQ anyway. (Like last time unable get OT ticket onto same PNR). I think could get on same ticket but at a significant cost differential more than a walk up full fare business class on the short haul flights. .

In the end went for free change, fully refundable on the short connection. Only problem is that it looks like the worst possible T2 connection … both arriving and departing from the satellite terminal which means doing the tunnel walk in both directions to the main terminal and back.

Turkish is daily to CMN at 1115am. Also fly to RAK.

We took TP LHR-LIS-RAK, all on one ticket, but enjoyed a 23hr59 stopover in LIS. Certainly want to go back!

Yeh it was all 0’s. And a 5.5 hr layover in IST. My preference is SQ/OT via LHR but it’s a risk and OT was sold out in business anyway. All going to plan should have half of the evening in Lisbon which is fine. If not it will be a lounge crawl at LHR.

AF is a good option but fare was about 80% more. I originally had LH codeshare on Sq day flight connecting to LH (FRA-CMN) booked but not ticketed and then I was asked to move it a day earlier and there is no LH flight on Sunday evenings to Casablanca .

OK connection completed. Will never do this connection again, not because of the connection but because of the airline I was connecting to!

The connection went well, I was #7 person off the A380 (the first 6 being in the F cabin), and from doors open to through passport check and security into the departures area it took me 13 minutes, including walking through the tunnel. I had time to back through the tunnel to visit the SQ lounge and have a couple of coughtails waiting for the TP gate to appear, then back through the tunnel again to board the flight.

One item of note I was advised that SQ do not through check luggage at LHR to TP or BA. Luckily I had HLO. They could issue TP boarding pass though. (When I travelled Royal Air Maroc, it was the opposite - they through checked luggage but couldn't issue BP).

Now, I did have a choice of taking Royal Air Maroc (in economy), or Air France (in business with o/n @ CDG). I thought TP would be more convenient going from T2 (instead of T4) and had two more flights that night in case of missed connection.

However, I might as well have been in Royal Air Maroc in economy, and probably prefer this next time to TAP "business" class. I unfortunately was in bulkhead on the A321 to LIS, with no legroom. Then the next morning in a bulkhead on an E170, but it was just economy class with 2 small pieces of sliced fruit and a Portuguese egg tart. Again no legroom and unlike some other Eurobusiness, no blocked seat beside me. And don't get started on the 10 min bus ride at LIS on both arrival and departure. I'd rate TP as the Ryanair of star alliance.

Oh, that’s disappointing re TAP. We had a couple sectors on them last year (on the embraer) to Morocco, seated in 2AB with unlimited legroom (the other side has row 1, so less legroom). The onboard catering wasn’t anything to rave about, but it was a reasonably ‘ok’ meal or meats, cheeses and salads. With the portuguese tart :)

The main advantage of business was the reserved overhead space… the flight was packed and they’d reserved the bins over the first three rows for business, even though business was only 2 rows.

Then on arrival at RAK the other huge advantage was access to the priority immigration queue (unofficial, but available if you ask and show your J BP). Saved us 90+ minutes.
