Can anyone tell me why a MCY TO MEL flight is 895 base points and MEL to MCY 995 base points?

It was the same fare type for these two flights
This has me curious as I was a bit confused about my flights from Friday.
I had a saver fare in the morning SYD- BNE which was around $110. I had a flexi fare on return that afternoon which was around $230.
For both flights I got 942 base points. Then another 707 bonus points as Gold.

Maths does add up in a way. We only have an approximation of the cost of flights.Maths does not add up???
That indicates 1884 + 707 = 2591.
$110+$230=$340, @ 5 Velocity base points per $ that's 1700. Gold get a 75% bonus which should be 1275 for a total of 2975.
Which is $34 more than quoted.Maths does add up in a way. We only have an approximation of the cost of flights.
For a Gold 707 points is 75% of 942 points. So if the points are the same for both flights it would be a total of 1884 points for the return or $377 for the return flights.
That is how I understood the post.Which is $34 more than quoted.
Ok, that would be 707 each way bonus.
