At least in Melbourne now, besides the 2 x $10 referral vouchers, new users also receive 8 x $5 off - all of these expire 14 days after registering

Plus, being a relatively new service, they have promotions such as 50% off your 3rd, 8th & 9th rides (1st 7 must be taken within 14 days of your 1st ride, 8th & 9th within next 5 days, offer ends 30th September), 30% off your 3rd ride, $8 off - unfortunately unlike Uber, they don't have gift cards at Colesworth which can be on sale at 20% off

So this month, you could have $10 off each of your 1st 2 rides, then 50% off your 3rd (up to $25 off) - which can make a trip to the airport less than $25 from the CBD

When I spoke to a driver recently he mentioned that DiDi was a Chinese company and when questioned on where data was hosted he said it was China.
Not sure how accurate this is but it was enough for me not to use them. Welcome others thoughts....

Yeah, Didi is a Chinese company. I dont know where data is hosted but makes sense for it to be in China too.

Ola is Indian

Uber is American.

Why do you inherently trust those companies more than Didi? Dont actually use Didi but just curious.

Apple and plenty of other apps on your phone are already tracking your location. What's another one to the list?

I've been using them for a while now and it's actually really good. App is definitely better than Ola and drivers are basically the same!! One thing I do for all these apps is I restrict the background activity. Just go to app settings if on Android then battery setting then restrict it. Then the app can't do anything on the background

I've had their app but years since I've used didi, actually can't remember if ever.
Arrived at BNE a few hours ago and when I selected "from" BNE domestic" and put in destination the price displayed 14% off. No idea why, when I walked to pickup and put in "from, my location" it didn't show the discount (so I changed that back!). Home now, discount applied, maybe amex the linked payment was why.
The driver said Didi take much less commission from them than others, esp the big U
