Hi,

How do people figure out which seat to request. I regularly travel the MEL - WLG route, sometimes via Sydney and have noticed two configuration of planes being used. On one of them (I think 737-800), I find Row 4 is much better than the exit rows.

When I look at my Qantas booking through Frequent Flyer, it tells me what the airline model is. I understand that can change due to other reasons. But, then how do I determine from that what the seat configuration is? SeatExpert does not even show Qantas having a 737-800. Seatguru shows multiple different 747 configurations, which I can't make out from what the booking shows.

So my question is which tools, websites help in determining which plane you will have and what the best seats are. Also, I am a Gold member at the moment, but will reach Platinum in another 3 weeks (4 Trans Tasman flights a week). Do you think I can call Qantas and reserve seats or is that only for WP status flyers?

Cheers,
MrHyde

To Get your seat allocation (it does not alway show on www.qantas.com/yourbooking) find your Qantas booking reference and plug it into www.checkmytrip.com along with your surname.

Once 'logged' into C/M/T with your booking information showing look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for

view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests

Click the "
expand.gif
view details" and the window will expand and you should see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map.

SG can preselect most seats except exit rows.

WP can request that a request be made to QF "seating" for an exit seat to be preallocated.

The 738 doesn't have a bulkhead and Row 4 is my preference.

Just booked a MEL-WLG and rung up to get 4A.

C/M/T showed immediately...

Now if only the WLG-SYD I have I could change from 6D

This week I'm on the WLG-SYD flight and have 8A allocated cause Row 4 is already allocated. Will have to try earlier (now that I know) for next week.

Ring up and try now; they do get snapped up very quickly.
