Some open days throughout the year and can be a reasonable value. Not the best deal in my life (I have paid $900 USD return for LHR > SYD on United and the airlines have to pay an APD meaning the fare is virtually 0) but given the current climate not a bad deal if you want to head to Europe.

I should also point out that since Virgin Atlantic (the carrier marketing the flight) is a core Delta partner you will earn 100% distance flown as MQM which can be very useful indeed for status maintenance or if you are doing a status match as that works out to roughly 26,000 MQMs accrued for the trip. Since I am assuming everyone on this form is not a US resident (a safe assumption I would think) there is no MQD requirement meaning all Delta cares is how many butt in seat miles you flew with their partners and optionally them (Delta doesn't have a minimum segment requirement flying them for earning/retaining status I think).

For those playing along at home who hold status with either Virgin or Qantas (or some other competitor), Delta will match your status and you will need to fly so many MQMs with their partners and/or them to maintain status. Your best bet for signing up for a status match would be next month, since your status would be good through January 2025. For instance, if you hold Qantas Platinum status you can match instantly to Delta Platinum status and supposing you fly 18,750 MQMs (i.e. this ticket) within 90 days of signing up for the match you'll have Platinum till 2025. Similarly if you hold Virgin Gold status and match over to Delta you can match to Delta Medallion Gold and for that you just need to fly 12,500 MQMs (i.e. half this ticket).
