Hi everyone,

I'm a Velocity Rewards member and considering a flight from Hobart to L.A on 7th May 2014. I can book through Delta or VA, but the flights are operated by VA. Delta is slightly cheaper on this flight & the intended return flight, but I recall some years ago when I flew internally in the US using Delta that their ponts were more generous.

So, I'm hoping some experts can advise me which way to go here, please.:)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

In what class?

In Y it appears that a DL flight # may indeed be more lucrative with regards to points earn

Economy
Y, B, M
1.25 Velocity Points
Discount Economy
S, H, Q, K
1 Velocity Point
Promo
L, U, T, X, V, E
0.5 Velocity Points

versus the following with a VA code

Flexi - Economy
Y, B, L, K, H
1 Velocity Point
Saver - Economy*~
T, Q, V, N, E
0.5 Velocity Points
Saver Lite - Economy[SUP]~[/SUP]
U, M, S
0.5 Velocity Points

However in J a VA code will earn 2 points and DL 1.5

That being said. I have no real world knowledge of the subject so I'll have to defer the more knowledgeable posters.

I assume this question is for crediting the flight to Velocity & not Delta skymiles (Delta pesos)
Velocity points are only worth something if you use them. Velocity points are worth $0.01, $0.02, $0.03 or what ever your own valuation is.
Is the difference in flight cost more/less than the theoretical velocity points value?
Too many people put miles/points before hard cash (sucked in by frequent flyer programs)
