In the past few months, almost all of my 10 sectors to/from BNE have experienced some kind of delay. Is it just my bad luck or is BAC dropping the ball?

I note there is some conjecture over who is going to pay for the additional runway...

Currently delays on QF551 flowing on from earlier late arrivals, and on Friday night was delayed over an hour and a half on QF544.

Is this affecting DJ flights too?

You aren't alone... there's always delays in/out of BNE.

It has been happening to me almost every week for the past 5 years but no one is listening.

FWIW Qantas got me to OOL ~5 minutes early and managed to make the 5:07pm bus to Varsity Lakes and should hopefully get to Central Station ~7:07pm.

Oh no, don't tell me JohnK has been on my flights? That explains it ;)

Not quite.

I have been flying out of OOL for the past 3 months and it would also appear you come up to BNE on weekends where as I am up here through the week and go back to SYD on weekends.

Ok so it is not the JohnK effect. Plus I have had flawless PB in the last few months so clearly not on your flights ;)

I was on this flight. So, there's a bus to the train station? Good to know, as I got a lift home and the weather was horrendous driving back.

I'm pretty sure Kate Miller-Heidke was on our flight.

The 761 bus goes to Varsity Lakes Station and then Robina Station. Last departure at 7:07pm.

But after that can get bus to Palm Beach Police Station and change buses to get to Varsity Lakes or Robina.

I'm pretty sure Kate Miller-Heidke was on our flight.
And she did not say hello? ;)

Sorry but no idea who she is.

Was delayed (again) flying in to BNE form MEL last night. The pilot said they were able to make good time but there was no point as air traffic had already help us at the gate in MEL. Then when we got to BNE, the air bridge malfunctioned and that was another 20 minute delay., so we were 35-40 minutes late disembarking a flight that, according to the pilot, could have been 15 minutes early.

The weather last night probably did not help, it was wicked around 6-7PM.

Interested to see how my MEL-BNE-MEL flights go over this weekend, expecting it to be pretty busy!

I flew VA CNS-BNE and BNE-HBA on Saturday. Both flights on time. I spoke to the cabin attendant about this. He told me that as Brisbane airport only has one runway it cannot cope with the demand at peak hours, hence there are usually delays at these times. BAC tried to charge increased landing fees to raise the money for an extra runway but the airlines refused to pay any increase until the extra runway is built. So now BAC refuses fast track an extra runway and there is no resolution in site, even though they do say on their website that a new parallel runway will be built in the next 10 years.

Not quite correct, Brisbane has two runways, it was a reduction to one for a short period that caused the recent issues however its back in service, and can handle up to 737 aircraft, while not the same as a parallel runway setup, it comes in handy.

I knew about the 2nd runway. I knew it was used for Dash 8s etc but thought it was a bit short for 737s.

Is there scope to use it more?

I assume there would be (potential) issues with a go-around? Amongst other things.

I think it's used as much as it can, with a northerly it certainly makes for easy departures that don't impact the traffic pattern.

But it can't be used at night because of a lack of lights? Aren't the delays usually in the evening when it's dark, especially as we get closer to winter?
