Just thought I’d start this thread as I am getting into the practice of buying expensive wine for cheap flights on Qantas Wine. Consequently between this and my stays at various Accor properties I am starting to build up a stockpile. One far larger than a bachelor or couple could consume (especially when we’re talking about 20 bottles of the same thing)

Hence, I thought I’d check with fellow points collectors how they handle the build up of wine? Do you just bring a bottle to every gathering you attend? What strategies could help one deal with the excesses of wine accumulated over these point hauls?

Christmas gifts or send them here….

Assuming they’re not plonk….

I may "send" a couple over if there is interest (and supposing it doesn't cost me a dime to do so)
Assuming they’re not plonk….
When we're dealing with QF Wine chances are good they may be plonk.

Not sure the freebies from Accor are up to cellaring...
I hear if you cellar Accor wines long enough, an ibis will fly out of the bottle when you open the bottle!

I have about 450 bottles now, they dont go off just collect? I also bought a wine fridge which handles overflow :)

I’m not so sure about the don’t go off line, there is a peak drinking period and past that peak the wine definitely starts to decline. I once had ~70 dozen, now down to about 40 precisely for this reason.

Much of what you describe was covered here:

You should find plenty of answer in that thread.

Agree, i find 4 years is perfect. But i always drink the new ones first :( Either way we have to remember the money is in the flights and not in the wine
