hi,

does anyone know where i can get the latest One World Circle Pacific Rules - is the one the OW website the most current (and what date was it issued?)?
i had planned an itinerary that i thought was kosher, phoned into the AA ATW to only have it rebuked!

routing ex-TPE:

TPE-HKG(transit)-BKK-SIN(transit)-ADL(transit)-SYD-AKL//PPT-IPC-SCL(transit)-
LIM-LAX-KOA-NRT-TPE

where // indicates surface segment (no OW flights permitted on this fare AKL-PPT routing)

mileage came in under 29k accordingly mileage monkey

i've got 8 stops total with no more than 2 stops per region (as permitted,
though i will pay extra for more than the 6 free stops)

the AA guy said i couldn't stop in PPT (something that SWP only refers to AU, NZ) - can't see that anywhere in the rules (there's something about originating/terminating in AU/NZ but nothing about travel to PPT; heck there's even a bloody eg where SCL/PPT surface AKL/SYD is provided!)

also, said i couldn't take JO flights on this fare. huh? did i miss something? the way i read it the tech sheet explicitly allows JO! otherwise that rules out the KOA stop

i'm more puzzled by the can't do PPT... i wanted to do IPC without backtracking from SCL and that would have been the best way without chewing up unnecessary mileage...

has anyone come across similar probs b4 when booking xCIR29?

any suggestions from the experts?

i'm considering calling back the AA ATW and speaking to someone different. and i thought they were the smart ones...

The rules on oneworld - Home seem pretty up to date.

Here's the example you mentioned:
For –CIR29SA Fares
Travel must Originate in or include South America. Travel must be via the North/Central Pacific in one direction and via Chile to/from the South West Pacific using the services of QF/LA in the other direction. E.g. SCL/PPT surface AKL/SYD or SCL/AKL/SYD.
I would call again, perhaps referring the agent to the rules published on the web site.

Quite often agent can get products mixed up when booking. e.g. xGLOBnn allow oneworld codeshares on non oneworld metal, but I have seen reported of agents not allowing them. (Probably thinking of XONEx's which don't.)

update:
called the ATW desk again and got the ok on the SYD-AKL-surface-PPT-IPC (if at first u don't succeed...)
no luck though on the JO - apparently they have been disallowed on xCIRxx fares (still avail on xONEx and the global explorer fares) - this was effective 5 july 2007 so the rule sheet on the website is not totally up-to-date...i don't suppose there's any point trying to force the issue on the published rules (from the website) is there?
i just have to leave out the hawaii stop (HNL wasn't valid either since all flights from hawaii are on JO metal...) i guess that effectively means u can't include hawaii on any itinerary except from SWP-NA (since backtracking to continental US is not allowed also)
u would think they would try keep the rules a bit simpler...

From the rules from EF, it does say

A. TRAVEL MUST BE ON AA/BA/CX/EG/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/ LP/NU/QF/XL/4M AND THEIR AFFILIATES ONLY.

E.TRAVEL ON ANY AA/BA/CX/EG/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/LP/NU/ QF/XL/4M CODESHARE SERVICES OPERATED BY AA/BA/CX/ EG/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/LP/NU/QF/XL/4M IS PERMITTED

I would call the UK office to add them in; they will add the sectors and send it off to the tariff department rather than try to validate the itinerary themself

thks for the tip dave - worked a treat!:D

hawaii is back on the itinerary. now doing LAX-KOA//HNL-NRT with a bonus upgrade to F for the 1st leg on AA since it has no business - totally unexpected, but ain't complaining!

fingers crossed i don't get slugged with too many fees/surcharges and the like...after countless hours reading/researching/planning and looking like it was coming to nought i am now looking fwd to getting it ticketed! yah!

It is normal on business class tickets with domestic US travel, to get 1st class on 2 class US domestic flights

Good that you managed to get it done successfully

Good for the SC earn, pity you find that "first class" is not better than business on a lot of other airlines.
