DC3s seem to have found a purpose in the Canadia North

This one failed to maintain climb but I thought they have 3 blade propellers. This one has 5 blades.
Hopefully they can salvage it off the ice before the spring thaw:

Flying in A DC3 is one item on the bucket list. I wonder how loud they are inside

Accident: North Star DC3 at Pickle Lake on Mar 17th 2017, lost height after takeoff

This DC3 appears to have had a conversion to a turboprop engine - see Basler Turbo Conversions - Home for an example. ( I had thought this was the answer - and if you read the comments in the original article you linked, someone says that it is a turboprop conversion.)

EDIT: Mel-Traveller and I did not collude in our posts - even though we posted virtually simultaneously, said basically the same things and included a link about the same engine conversion company!

This particular DC-3 as others have mentioned, has been converted to a turboprop. About 4 years ago, I recall there was a turbine powered DC-3 that used to live in Goulburn. Whether it's still there or not, I'm not sure. I can't remember the rego but I don't think it was VH registered.

Flew in Billy Pike's DC3 (Rebel Air yet he was a 747 captain) many years ago a long flight Syd to Mel. to watch the AGP, a hell of an experience, we levelled off, then out came Bill dressed as Biggles, complete with flying suit, scarf and leather jacket, but on his head he had a bright yellow beanie with big green horns then said "high I'm your captain" someone yelled out **** strap yourself in!, a few of us got so drunk don't remember the flight home.
