Dash 8 last minute swaps

The dash 8 maintenance is definitely conducted in Australia. I think your problem has something to do with the fact the QF Link are expanding their routes/adding services while not getting too many new planes.

This, combined with such a vast network means that if an aircraft does go out of service, there may not be a spare plane nearby. In saying that though, the airline has a reputation for being reliable and I'd say you got unlikely with those couple of flights.

In the case where there are FIFO charters to/from mine sites there are undoubtedly contractual obligations & KPI's involved so it may be that if an aircraft due to fly to Moranbah (MOV) goes u/s that QLink may cancel the flight to HVB & use that a/c instead.

Recently 2 Dash8's were u/s in MOV & RMA on the same day so they had to fly another Dash a/c up with an engineer & parts to fix it so those aircraft have to come from somewhere.

I'm sure they would look at the alternative that would have the least impact on customers eg they cancel a Dash8 BNE/CBR pax can be reaccommodated on a jet.
