One theory that is likely confirmed is that if you are flying JQ and there are no QF flights scheduled around when your flight is, the lounge will not be open.

I was flying JQ669, sched 1920h departure. I was greeted with this.

It seems the Q Club is open till 1:10am, shuts and then reopens @ 4:15am.

Is there a 24 hour cafe open in the airport to go to for the intervening 3 hours?

“Northern common” is the main cafe but I believe it closes for a couple of hours in the overnight period. The other outlets in departures definitely do

There’s a fairly coughpy cafe in arrivals called Charlie’s (I don’t think it’s related to the Charlie’s in the CBD which is excellent) which may be open 24 hours but I’m not sure and frankly I don’t think it’s worth it

There are a lot of vending machines so you won’t starve. But if you’re bored and/or looking for an out you may consider leaving the airport- Uncle Sam’s in the CBD is the only non-fast food option I can think of. Unsure how the food is otherwise there, it’s often a cultural experience though

Casino is open until 4am. Slightly closer than CBD. And luggage lockers outside in middle of carpark

AS MENTIONED plenty of vending machines.

There’s also some couches you can lie down on

Checkin will strictly open 2 hours before flight time. You Cannot check bags in early

I’m flying in at 0010, and can go to the QClub on arrival if open. Then departing @ 0630 but will go to the QClub again from when it opens

The opening hours board will change depending on last flight out for the night (and if delayed will stay open) and first flight out in the morning (2 hours before departure)

Can probably work out what’s likely on your specific day around 3 months ahead as the forward flights are publicised

It has clean showers to wash the Darwin sweat away so you start your flight somewhat refreshed
