Dark side of frequent travelling

Getting philosophical as one does when in a small town in Colombia suffering 42 degrees and cheap rum - I think they are totally off the mark. I am sure that doctors, etc can find damaging effects, but I also agree that the enjoyment of travel vastly outweighs those. But there is another angle....

For anyone who is familiar with Douglas Adams (fame through Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - the radio version was best, books are great, movies are pathetic), he revealed a far more deep view of the dangers of excessive travel.

Expressing it in a sideways fashion, as he did about many topics in his writings, he described a situation where every single being is tied in some way to their birthplace, by delicate tendrils. As you travel far and wide, those tendrils get stretched, and can even break. It leads to a loss of sense of belonging. People ask me where I am "from", and I cannot answer them. My usual reply now is I am half Australian, half Chilean, and half Colombian.

And I am actually very good at mathematics :)

I love travel, but it is NOT natural. And in ways it affects us.

But radiation??? That word is tossed in to garner funding as it sounds important.

Very true. People ask me where I'm from, and I never really know what to say. Born in the UK, grew up in Sydney, spent most of my 20's and 30's flitting between Qld and WA (with all the travel those jobs entailed). But "where's home?" people ask. Home is wherever I'm living at any point in time. The word has almost no meaning for me in a more philosophical context, as my family is all over the place, and by and large, they play very little part in my life anyway. I've never really managed to have an answer to that question that isn't entirely awkward.

Your three halves makes entire sense in a Hitchhikers sort of way! Let's see if I correctly recall...Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy....a trilogy in four parts! (I love hitchhikers)

Do we assume, you've also slipped a Babel Fish down your ear canal so you can understand the lingo?
