Hello,

I traveled on Qantas International, and my luggage was damaged. It looked as though it was pierced with a rod of 1.5inch diameter. This went right through the bag, and impaling my 3/4 suede leather & fur vintage jacket through the front sleeve. Its a beautiful and pristine jacket, and now ruined and not repairable to its wearable state.

My question:
As the jacket is vintage, i'm not sure how much to claim. Is there a limit per item?
Can anyone shed light on best way to handle this?

note: I have the platinum FF anz travel insurance with a 200.00 excess.

Thank you in advance.

Did you notice the damage when you collected the luggage before customs ? If so, a quick trip to the QF damaged and missing luggage counter to report the problem would have been the way to go, because once outside you have no real case against QF.
If not, I suggest the Insurance Company.
As to coat value, try and find a lookalike item, photograph and price it, and submit the information to the Insurance. (I don't like insurance with any excess)

Cheers Dee

Definitely go back to QF right away within 7 days and show them. I mean surely you need some things (that aren't damaged) from them.

I went through this for domestic, they never covered the contents though. (Qantas). They did repair the suitcase, was a shonky job but it will do for the time being ....
