Damaged Baggage - late report

Hi there, anyone have any experience of trying to claim for damaged baggage that you only noticed later on?

We flew EK into SIN, with an overnight stay and transfer to a Scoot flight the next morning because EK and Qantas couldn't get us onto a flight back to Aus.

We were ridiculously tired, and didn't notice that EK had damaged our pram until the next morning right as we were checking in (late) to our Scoot flight. We didn't have time to find the relevant EK office to submit a damage report, so I had to email them after the fact.

I still haven't heard anything from EK.
Any advice on how to get them to agree to pay?
In this case I don't think we will be able to claim travel insurance as I don't have the receipts for the pram
