Dalmatian Coast cruising without a dog in sight

I'm glad to see a more cheery note to your posts - after the hassles you had getting to Venice. It should be plain sailing from now on :)

Thankyou. Pushka is back in business. :D
It is currently 5.30am here. Reasonable sleep for first night of swapping time zones.
More photos of the cabin. I didn’t post them earlier.

Love the Bric kits but they do take a bit of space. The yellow one was on MrP’s seat but he lost it to me.

They are breeding. We now have four all in different colours. We will have 8 by the time we get back.

And I love how the socks and mask inside match the colour of the kit. There’s no difference for men and women.

Today was a cruisy day, on the Grand Canal. It was busy with tourists but tomorrow there are multiple cruise boats in with 12,000 passengers. However 2 of the larger boats depart at 4pm. That makes it a short stay for them. We are off to Murano and Burano.

Purchased a 2 day vaporetto pass for today and tomorrow. A little bit of upselling was ignored. After a nice light breakfast we headed off around 9.30am and it was peaceful. Our plan was to get lost, then walk to Rialto Bridge and through to St Marks.

If there is one thing that Venice has more than Gondolas, it’s lanes. Easy to not know where you are but you can’t get lost.

Walked through to the Fish market which is close where we stayed last time. I don’t mind poking through fish markets strangely, it’s the meat markets that make me ill.

Wonderful plump scallops.

There was a blockage near the lane at the Fish market and we saw this contingent of Japanese officials hovering around this guy.

Also one man designated to keep him in the shade. He was running backwards and forwards which created more chaos amongst all the crowds. It’s a very busy place in Venice.

So many lovely smaller canals. And always a gondola. Well, you know the saying.....

We then had a ridiculously expensive hot chocolate and coffee near St Marks. Stupid move. We knew not to do that. We forgot to check the price. And it wasn’t that great either.

Then off on a very crowded vaporetto onto an equally crowded canal. How the gondolas manage their heavily loaded gondolas amongst all the boat traffic is amazing. People shifting around in the gondola. Taking photos. Taking selfies. Taking group selfies. Standing up. But the Italians don’t hold back if someone does the wrong thing. Canal rage.

I mean. What could possibly go wrong?

We were getting a bit tired of the crowded vaporetto and realised we had reached the Central Station right near our hotel so we got off.

Had another pizza for lunch. Less than 24 hours in Venice and down 2 pizzas already.

At which stage we were a little weary so back to the hotel for a rest. Ended up a few hours rest. Oops. Hopefully we will sleep tonight. Dinner tonight was rather unimpressive pasta. Oh well.

How tragic you’ll miss the wedding. ;)
I do note the rather crowded Rialto Bridge! And it’s not high season yet.

Keep an eye for a bunch of dragon boats that are there for the Boating Festival. There's a crew from Canberra called Navmat (blue and red tops) If you see them call out Go Navmat, it will keep them guessing how you know who they are

Changing the saturations is producing some interesting effects

I was using the camera yesterday for these.
I realised I also had the camera set on some funky setting that changed everything. I had also stopped saving in RAW to save space so a bit of a combo. Good or bad? On the phone it’s hard to tell. The Rialto bridge was the main one I had the weird camera setting.
Sunset using the phone :)

Great photos. We will be back there next year. I love wandering the lanes and "getting lost".
Looks like good weather too.

The weather has been fantastic. 22 degrees. No breeze. Warm in courtyards. Great for exploring.

Slightly off camera is MrP checking the footy scores.

And our Japanese dignatory is here too.
His attendants are running around the place.

Busy day going to Murano (glass) and Burano (lace and eclectic houses). Started out early and arrived at Murano at 10 which was well before most stores were open. Unfortunately many cover up their displays when closed. There was also a major international glass exhibition which means nothing more than large groups of people with tags could hang around in the narrow canals, talk loudly and block access. I hadn’t planned on buying anything here so a quick photo op and we were gone.

This display is huge and it’s been here a while and it’s looking a bit sad.

We travelled over on a packed vaporetto and created quite a swell.

Burano sells beautiful silks, lace, linen and cotton items. Beautiful baby’s items and wonderful tableware and jewellery. Not cheap but fabulous quality. I bought a lace handkerchief for a certain girl who might carry it one day. Purchased at the time of the Royal Wedding. ;)

We did get a little lost making our way back. Today Venice was packed with cruisers. But we still managed to find nice little places to sit and people watch.

Ok. They were all out in full force. Spotted a group from Canada.

This group from SAN Francisco were out to win. They were fully psyched. Walked past them then spotted them going over this bridge later.

And these ladies were from Wagga. We also saw another group from the Gold Coast I think.
