I will do a trip to Europe on CX & BA J Class - Ex Perth-HK-LHR-Milan-Athens-LHR-HK-PER. Date : 8 July
1. CX from/to Perth - is this a 2 class A330 with non-sleeper seats ?
Is the front row best option ?

2. CX HK Lounge - difference between the Wing & Pier - what are the access criteria ?

3. Best BA seat options into Milan (Linate) and out of Athens. I think the aircraft are 757/767 respectively.

Thanks.

Yes, its scheduled to be a 2-class A330. Sleeper seats are not critical as its a nice daytime flight. But the extra space of the long-haul business class would have been nice. Currently the flight is wide open with few seats pre-allocated. The first row is available (11D&G, 12A&B, 12H&K).

Use whichever lounge is closest to your departure gate. The Wing is larger and located near the very low number gates (1-4). Its closest to the E transfer areas. The Wing is located above the departure level and has an open airy feel with views down over the departure gates.

The Pier is located near gate 64 and is closest to the W1 transfer area. It is located below the departure level and has no views.

The facilities are very much the same, with one difference being that the F side of The Wing has Cabanas (rooms with bath and shower) while the Pier has Dayrooms. The food and beverage service is the same in The Wing and The Pier.

On my current trip, I transited HKG on QF29 going MEL-LHR. QF uses gates in the 20s and as such I used The Wing for this stopover (better than the QF F lounge). On the transit yesterday, my CX881 flight from LAX arrived at gate 61 and my CX723 flight to KUL departed from gate 71. So I used the W1 transfer area and walked back to The Pier entry escalator near gate 64 and enjoyed a shower and some more dim sum for breakfast.

LHR-LIN is usually A320 or A319 aircraft. BA uses 757 on LHR-MXP route. The A319/320 use convertible seats for Club Europe, so make sure you get on the A/C side of the aircraft and not the D/E/F side as its 2x3 seating. Row really does not matter. Sometimes they hold back on seat allocations on this flights since they don't know how many rows of Club World they are going to need for a particular flight.

BA's Club Europe on 767 is basically the same as QF's domestic 767s. Its 2x2x2 seating with seats very similar to QF's Millennium seats. I would take a window seat and hope for good clear weather as the scenery would be interesting.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the good information.

Will go for the first row on PER-HKG (and the return night flight)
Any seat preferences for CX longhaul J class A340-300 & A340-600 ?

I would be going for 11D/G on those aircraft. On the -300 I would also consider 15D/G
