Planning a trip to India, so looking for award availability around Xmas/Boxing Day in Dec 2026. Having just transferred MR-CX 600k odd points, would prefer to use CX/Asia Miles.

I have been tracking availability - usually very good with CX using Asia Miles. Almost daily availability (1 pax) all the way to Nov 30 '26. But not a single day of availability (other than on UL) in any day in December. Does CX as a rule hold back ex-Aus availability in Dec? I can see return DEL-MEL availability on CX during December (not every day but several days).

Will Xmas Day and Boxing Day have more availability given most people don't fly on those days and flights are likely to have lower loads?

Any other hints/pointers welcome. I am just green level FF.

CX Asia Miles doesn't release AUS - HKG flight awards (Y or J) in Christmas New Year school holidays period, except for their CX Diamond members. I use Asia Miles for awards during non peak season.

If you transferred to SQ you would have better chance to book awards (Y or J) to DEL during Christmas season.

Thanks - I assume this is a consistent rule and won't change over time? Even if Diamond members don't take the award inventory? No point in waiting longer?

Will this be the same for the return i will need DEL-MEL around 20 Jan?

I can see the SQ availability, but I've just used over 400k of SQ miles. Would need to transfer in 110k miles for a one way. I can see 79k award on VN via AF - better value.

I don't know CX rules but this has been my observation, even for coming back to Australia in January. It is simply peak season for Australian travel.

Even with SQ, they may not have Saver awards but Advantage awards only on some days.
