Is there a CX arrivals lounge for J/F in HKG? Found some old threads but they were 'ideas' of getting one back in 07/08.

And by basic, he means really basic. It's dry and not very useful. You have to clear customs and immigration and head all the way to terminal 2.

Actually, arriving into HKG after an overnight flight it would be very useful before heading out to the SAR ...

Earlier this year I paid ~AUD35 to use the adjacent premium lounge for a shower etc. after arriving on QF29. As a WP, if it had been CX168 the "arrivals" would have been most welcome.

I dunno - but I thought the lounge is quite good. Yes it is dry but they have showers, internet stations with printers and catering by the Peninsula Hotel - which was fairly tasty (for the dishes they go off and prepare fresh).

And the staff are very attentive.

I can see it being useful at times (a nice warm shower after a longhaul always is great!), especially if you're only in the place for a few hours and don't have a hotel booked.

Actually, are there any non-dry Arrival's lounges in the world? I wonder why that is... is it the cost of alcohol? Or just a duty of care thing?

The Arrival is not catered by The Peninsula. It is managed by the group of Plaza Premium lounges, which also operates the other arrivals lounge (opposite The Arrival). If the 8 showers in The Arrival are full (as often is the case in the morning), the staff would ask you if you'd mind going to their other lounge.

Only The Wing, The Pier and G16 are managed by The Peninsula.

They also have provided free baggage storage for me in the past.

Smallish lounge - would only fit 30 or so people.
Has some PCs and Macs
No view - tucked underneath the railway station
A la carte food is quite decent
Showers are very nice and quite a large room.

Whilst dry, full range of juices and soft drinks

Some photos here from my Oct-08 visit (about a week after it opened)

How long were you in HKG? Couldn't you just have stayed in transit by going back up through security, getting an exit pass from customer service and use the Wing/Pier and then exit departures security screening from the special lane?

Too much trouble!
