CX Aircraft swap

Flying between Hong Kong and Taipei later on in the year and decided to redeem a bunch of Qantas points to book business class between the two, flying on board the A330 with 1-2-1 reverse herringbone seats that Cathay Pacific fly (not the Aria suites for this short route unfortunately).

A few weeks later I received a notification from my Flighty app that the aircraft type has changed to a 777-300 and upon checking the seat map on the manage booking page, the newly assigned plane has the less than ideal 2-3-2 recliner seats.

Not the end of the world but I have a strong preference for the 1-2-1 layout onboard the A330. There are many flights between HKG and TPE on this day and many of them feature the desired 1-2-1 layout, just my luck that my flight was changed.

Question: What are the chances that Cathay will reaccommodate me on a different flight that day on board my preferred aircraft type, if I ask them to?

First world problem, I know, but having flown both before I have a strong preference for the reverse herringbone seats and it is actually why I chose that particular flight to start off with. And yes, I am sure it is probably within their T&Cs that they can swap out aircraft as and when they want.

And there’s every chance the plane could revert to a 1-2-1 right up until departure time.

A lot of those planes do the hop to TPE in between long haul flights, so any delays they just pick another plane.

For what it's worth, this equipment swap also happened to me on their TPE-NRT sector, but the flight is quite short and the F&B onboard as well as access to lounges etc remain the same, so it's still a superior and fairly enjoyable experience compared to Y.
