Had foxtel for many years (actually applied to be a beta tester for it originally when I worked for Telstra and lived in Bondi )
It took quite a few months of actually not having the box connected that I cancelled it.
That was probable 3 years ago and havnt noticed the absence.
Probable afl was the only thing I really missed

The AFL is my sting too. I would be ex communicated if I stopped that.

As someone who supports a “lesser” Victorian AFL team when I live in SA, and both Mr Ralphie and I follow the New Zealand cricket team very passionately, I feel forced to continue my subscription which I hate.

That’s the $64 question.

Going to get an Apple TV
Can get Netflix/Stan with VPN
2,7,9,10 streaming plus previous episodes
Will checkout Amazon Prime and CBS streaming is coming to OZ

Oh and the Apple TV has the TV app which has sports on it. I will use my USA iTunes account and a VPN to get USA sports - not everything but free.

no live stream of news i.e. Aussie business news or Skynews however Win network has skynews just recently.

That's right quickstatus.Sky News now on channel 84 on the Sunny Coast.:D

I had cryptically meant a QF lounge nearby for news sources like Skynews :D

(I didn’t sign the petition):p

Previous comment re Apple TV’s TV app: the channels within need paid subs:(

Hopefully not ABC newscasts
Though love the Monday morning podcasts with Dr Norman Swan and Alan Kohler
The beauty about podcasts is that there is no geofencing and its diversity makes the ABC and other mainstream sources irrelevant. It’s all about speech not photogenic appearance

If SKY News is your thing you can watch it for free on iPad and iPhone using the FOXTEL APP downloadable from the apple APP store. The one channel it would let you watch for free is skynews.

How is getting iQ4 with 4 K streaming? Is it still a 64$ question or totally worth it? Remember its for those connected via satellite. Unfortunately we have a satellite connection to the building but it is not enough as this is shared amongst those in the building.

For those who only have Foxtel for sports (and have a decent Internet connection) you now have another option

They have now launched their streaming service - Kayo Sports - Stream Over 50 Sports Live & On Demand | Kayo Sports

2 wks free then from $25/mth for HD Sports

At present only available as a browser app - and can be cast to Chromecast or AppleTV, with Android and Apple (and Android and Apple TV) native apps coming soon.

Note - reportedly the Chromecast 1 and 2 (and i think 3) can't candle the 1080p60 format without struggling so you really want a Chromecast Ultra

Some 4K Chromecast enabled boxes including NVIDIA Shield, Foxtel Now box and Vodafone TV also work.

The Vodafone TV haus just dropped to $72, and can also record FTA with a USB thumb drive or HDD attached.
Vodafone TV™.

Initial reports on Whirlpool are pretty good.
And it has some great PIP/splitview features including 4 different channels at a time, as well as other features (eg. F1 live timing and pit view feeds)

I am on a really old package and don't wish to change or upgrade. Foxtel said they were putting up the fee by $20 per month. I managed to negotiate over the phone a 12 month freeze on the price. I think I'll have to pay one month at the higher price but the rest will be at the previous price. The only thing I'll be adding later this year will be Foxtel Go on my tablet once it's up and running and that will be free provided I don't go over our data limit at home. I'm guessing I'll be ringing them in a years time looking for a better deal so they don't try increasing the cost again.

Same here, I really need to get my cough togteher and get a better foxtel/telstra deal. We use fox a reasonable amount, normally 'tape' things then fast forward through the ads!

Has anyone else noticed that when surfing from channel to during during an ad break that nearly all the channels show ads at the same time.

Can't believe thay can show as many ads as they do and still charge us!

Unless you are a sports fan who specifically wants AFL or NRL or Cricket, then Foxtel really has no unique content to offer other than GoT and its only got a few episodes to go, and you can buy those individual episodes else where.

I have zero interest in sport (or kids channels), so once I got nbn I cancelled the Foxtel Drama Pack @ $44/month returned the IC3 and replaced with Fetch Mighty. I use this to watch Netflix + Stan and the fetch Variety bundle (BBC First, SciFy, UK TV, Universal etc) for a total of $26 a month (no contract, cancel or pause anytime). Buy a retail mdoel (not via an ISP and it only costs $1 to activate and $6/channel pack/month (or $26 for all the channels - which is basically every foxtel channels except their footy, cricket, showcase and Fox8).

The fetch mighty (provided you plug in an aerial) gives you all the HD FTA channels too, plus records the FTA and fetch channels (which are foxtel channels), live rewinds, start over etc

I just pause Stan/Netflix/Fetch packages whenever every nothing new i want to watch or am travelling overseas so am not there to watch, then restart when i get back or new content is released.

I am on a combined Telstra Internet home phone deal and really costs no extra for the Foxtel entertainment and News Documentary. The HD has been thrown in for a fee.
