Took a few for the team earlier in the week...

Squid and Bao

Brisket (unfortunately wasn't the melt in your mouth like previous versions)

Club sandwich (delicious but the bread a bit hard...)

Profiterole(s)

Garden Spritz (actually really nice... was denied a margarita)

Didn't try the special 50th menu and wasn't presented with bag tag. No escort to F/CL/P1 section but QF1 had just pushed back when I arrived so wasn't super busy.

Went with the apricot chicken for dinner tonight which was on the 50th anniversary menu. Was lovely nicely flavoured and not too heavy prior to flying
As an aside the service was pretty average- a lot of staff seemed new and the staff seem to be very disorganised, I don’t understand why they don’t allocate certain staff to certain tables rather than a free for all does not lead to good service

And @serfty - thoughts on your selection?
They were all good. I'd have the broth again in a heartbeat, although I fished the snapper out and left much of the noodles (nothing against the noodles, they were close to perfect).

The duck was different but familiar - sort of.

I'd had the brisket before - it was again good, but as beforemost flavour cooked out, so needed the ginger.

Anyone know if QF have released the shackles and allowed the staff to make coughtails or are they still restricted by what's listed on the menu?

Currently in the Melbourne First lounge. Looks like the all day menu is now (as of yesterday) available from 12pm rather than 11am which is a shame. Unless QF35 is delayed will miss out on the salt and pepper squid!
Maybe they change it during daylight saving 😂

I'll just miss you! Will be there from 2pm ahead of QF37.

I'll take one for the team let you know what you missed 😂

If you ask nicely, they will often make the salt and pepper for you around 11 am
But probably not always likely to be successful
