Found the beef and cabbage very good and also the freekah salad. Both the pav and lemon meringue also get the seal of approval. They had Grosset Gaia in the decanter. And I managed to get a massage for the first time in three years!

I didn't think they had a decanter in MEL, maybe they pinched it from SYD

We arrived at 7.30 pm along with the QF9 crowd. First time I've seen the decanter there but figured it was related to QF9 passengers...

Is F check-in open that early for QF9? Wondering when to book Chauffeur Drive for to maximise FLounge time.

Max chauffeur time is (from memory) 5 hours before flight. That would be more than enough I reckon.
While I'm usually transiting through MEL so don't need to check-in, I've always seen the QF desks manned around 6pm even though there aren't any flights then (as far as I know).
