Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Other than one or two standouts, I agree it wasn't their best. Not helped by poor quality of the dishes in MEL on my visits, and the restricted menu in SYD for a couple of visits there.

Fortunately Sydney had the full menu when we went through but I still didnt find it that amazing. The best dish was a spicy pork dish that was on the specials, we loved it so much that feedback went back to the chef.

I did enjoy the risotto in SYD but everything else was fine but nothing spectacular. The mussels in MEL were terrific though.

Have asked a few times whether sashimi would be making a return to the menu. Was told spring or summer menu maybe. Not holding my breath, but would be nice to see that return.

Was just in MEL last night and still the Winter menu.

Thanks. Not flying OneWorld in the next few weeks, so mainly just curious, but if it's a good menu with good feedback here I might direct another upcoming booking to QF in coming weeks.

I always look for the sashimi on the daily specials and if it's there then it's my go to appetiser.

After eating a copious amount of poke on my recent Hawaii visit then it would be great to see this on the F lounge menu too.

AusBT used to report on it a few days in advance, but that doesn't seem to have happened for a while.

We did, and in fact we were the first to cover the seasonal lounge menus – but Qantas stopped hosting media for the seasonal F lounge menu introduction (specifically the staff briefing session which we'd attend on the day the menu was introduced, which was a great intro to all the new and changed dishes along with tasting notes), so not much we could do about that.

Thanks for that. A shame (for you guys especially!).

That's disappointing.

For a while the sessions morphed into a much broader 'media luncheon' to promote the entire Qantas/Rockpool dining experience, which included some 'classics' as well as a few new additions, and often new seasonal menu items appearing inflight in F, J and even Y+ – definitely good for broader stories in the mainstream media but a shift in focus which didn't really work for us as a focus on the seasonal F lounge menu (specifically new items).

But it should also be added that it takes a lot to organise these briefings and QF PR has lately had a massive to-do list anyway, and every activity has to be measured by resulting exposure and against broader sets of goals – so it's understandable from my perspective that the F lounge menu tasting isn't always going to be do-able.

Hvr has confirmed that the spring menu is out. Looking forward to seeing what's on it tomorrow night :)

I'll be enjoying the Spring Menu a few times and possibly the LAX menu once too. Does LAX have pretty much the same menu as MEL/SYD?

LAX is opposite; we had their summer menu a few weeks ago.

Ah so they should be changing to their fall menu. I don't think I'll have another breakfast visit to a FLounge this year, but I prefer lunch/dinner food anyway.

There is a separate thread (I think) on the LAX menu. Unfortunately S&P squid seems to be a staple there too.
