Crediting JAL Domestic flights to QFF

I believe you should receive the discount Y + F surcharge.

Yeah, that's what I thought too but it just credited as Discount Y (Economy) instead. But then again evidently the upgrade did something since my other otherwise identical G-class booking without upgrade did not credit anything at all.

I guess it's just a random coughshoot when booking JAL Domestic, especially with upgrades

Just over a week ago I flew HND-ITM in paid First. It was one of the cheaper fares, and although absolutely nothing I received from JAL gave any indication of a fare class, I believe it booked into A class (I can see the same fare available on the route, and it's only available on flights with A inventory).

The flight hasn't credited at all yet. And, confusingly, although the Qantas points calculator lists JAL First on that route as crediting 50SC, the fare mapping table doesn't make any mention of 'A' class in any category (including those earning as 'economy plus premium/first surcharge').

Given 'A' isn't listed, should I just assume it's not eligible? And if it was eligible, how do you know how many SC the various 'x plus y surcharge' fares would earn, as it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere on the QFF site?

Yeah, JAL changed their domestic fares dramatically back in April, so fares like "Tokubin" etc. don't exist anymore. I haven't personally flown on a non-explorer JAL domestic fare since this change, so I'm unsure if Qantas' system has been updated to work with these new fares.

Thanks, that's good to know. Certainly as a paid First fare you'd expect it at least to credit as *something*. It might just be delayed? Will keep an eye out for it.

I've reliably had JAL Domestic flights always credit on the Monday on the week after a given flight (unless the flight falls on a Sat or Sun, in which case it credits the following week). Therefore I would expect your flight to credit imminently.

Even if it's a zero earn class, it should still show in your QFF history with a zero entry.

The Qantas partner earn categories for JAL domestic flights are all over the shop and very unreliable at the moment.

JAL rejigged all domestic fares in April (I believe this coincided with a major overhaul of their domestic booking system) but nothing has been changed on the Qantas side yet.

Update: recent domestic flights all credited today so must be batched. Discount "J class" has credited as economy.

My flight also credited today. Saver First Class fare credited as 'Flexible economy' so 20SC and 400 points... which is pretty weak but better than nothing I guess.

Well, if you booked Saver then I suppose "Discount Economy plus First Surcharge" makes sense. With that said, I don't actually think JAL's domestic flights work on the whole economy + premium cabin surcharge model anymore since the domestic fare overhaul.

You can still pay the premium surcharge to upgrade at check-in, although the prices have changed.
