My partner and I booked a flight in late February to fly to Darwin in June via Sydney. Total cost on Qantas was $1458.80. These were cancelled by Qantas and we were given an automatic credit. Happy to do this as we knew we'd use it at some stage anyway. We then decided to book a flight in late July to Mildura instead when we found out we couldn't leave Victoria. I booked online using the credit sitting on my account for a total of $512.00. This we also had to cancel when the shire where we lived was put into stage 4 lockdown. It's now lifted and I'm toying with the idea of when we can go to Mildura, so decided to have a look on my account. I have a total credit of $512.00. The rest of the money on that reservation number seems to have vanished! I know I need to ring them tomorrow (too late now) but I dread spending 2 hours of my day on the phone. Has anyone else had this happen and any tips???

When you ring:
1) allow lots of time depending on your QFF status.
2) have the original PNR, date of booking, cost of booking, date of cancellation etc,
3) PNR (if different) date of booking, cost of booking, date of cancellation etc,
4) the original payment method, have the actual credit card with you to confirm the final four digits,
5) take note of whom you're speaking to, date and time, and what you agree to, i.e. a refund of $xx to your credit card on eight weeks time.
6) put a date in your diary of when the refund is due, check your payment method and recommence the process from step 1.

Maintain a sense of humour and post on AFF about how the process plays out.

Thanks for that, I'll follow those steps and get everything prepared first. I don't actually want a refund into my bank, but would just be happy to have the credit put back on. We fully plan to use it and Qantas made it clear that you can use the credit from cancelled flights for multiple trips. I can see it's happened because they reuse the reservation number from the cancelled flight. But it's a bit dodgy, to be honest. Maybe you can use it for multiple flights only if you book on the phone rather than online?? If that's the case they should say so.
